That's a good point. Did the trauma of the first movie turn him gay? Like in the regular universe he sort of eased in to all the crazy storylines when he was a little more experienced, but to be exposed to a planet destroying Romulan when he was still green was so stressful he, uh, became gay? For some reason?

At the same time, I find it interesting that someone straight is telling someone gay how they should feel about their portrayal of a gay character. There is no right or wrong with something like this, just differing opinions, but for Pegg to have done it knowing the actor who it is supposedly a homage to didn't

Are you talking about the Canadian exchange rate? Because we make it work.

I'm fine with a female Bond, although I also sort of think it defeats the purpose as Bond is supposed to be a machismo, womanizing, smarmy asshole and I'm not sure that would translate at all to a female character. As you say, a spin-off with a different 00 agent makes far, far more sense.

Why would you keep coming back to read something you hate and them slam it in the comments? It's a bit masochistic, no? It's also really obnoxious. I completely loathe the Hate Song feature and guess what, I just don't read it.

It's more about how the male artist seems to think it's feminist to a) depict women in real jobs, as if they already aren't firefighters and soldiers and b) to depict them in the most comically sexualized means possible. And how the AVClub seems to agree (I literally laughed out loud at the 'these are perfect for me!'

Completely random and out of place question - is anyone who uses Disqus and who signed up for it through the AVClub, as opposed to having signed up for an account through Disqus itself, having problems seeing your notifications? For the last few days whenever i click on the bubble it takes me to a screen inviting me

I think the compromise here is that you should write your memoirs and stick them in a drawer, updating them yearly. That way if you die, you have a current autobiography to be published posthumously. And if you do live to be an age where a memoir is appropriate, everything is accurately recorded (and you may even have

Oh yeah, the Brightsides guy or whatever. I had actually assumed he was a gimmick account. In fact, I'm pretty sure he's a gimmick account based on some of his other thread rantings.

Wait, the scientist from Back to the Future blew up the Enterprise?

I'm always a little sad when I'm late to the party and the comments have been deleted. I enjoy a little crazy every now and again.

This is how it works:

ehhhhhhhhhhhhhh but is this gimmick funny anymore is the question.

Probably he wasn't being serious enough that an earnest explanation was needed, but it's nice to learn something new.

It seems even less likely that Jay would have invented this story without a direct threat from the cops to do so under threat of prosecution for something else.

It's pretty easy to demolish the state's case when you aren't required to actually cross-examine anyone and can just make assertions.

The real problem is that the innocence theory relies on the two cops taking the bizarre and really exceptional step of making Jay invent his entire testimony from whole cloth under threat of prosecution for the drug crimes, including telling him the details to invent (e.g. the car's location, the body's location, and

It's real issue is that it's one of their only films not conceived and written by them. Two other writers, neither of whom has done anything good, conceived the story and are listed as first and second writers. And you can sort of see it in the movie - it has a Coen feel to it, but there's something just a little bit

A big chunk of me is happy they aren't making this movie.
