So what did people actually think of the game? I know it was touted as a God of War knock-off, but I don't think that's actually a bad thing. I found it was dark, twisted, weird, and hyper-violent, so I was pretty satisfied. They definitely phoned in the final third (particularly the stupid arena style battle to get

I've  never watched Breaking Bad and yet I am extremely compelled to watch this.

It amazes me just how formulaic and boring they all are. They spent $200 million on the Green Lantern, and visually it really is a marvel of special effects when you compare it to where we were even 15 years ago. But it's like not a single person was interested in the story. Why does Hollywood spend so much fucking

@avclub-4d3bac64f0fbcc90a6b5c82f09ea4418:disqus if it makes you feel better i strongly doubt writing novels has made Atwood rich.

Atwood is not dissimilar from a gifted pro-athlete; they may be completely arrogant and deluded, but they're so talented you can't really put them in their place.

@avclub-7e1d54dc51f639d711387188468d01d9:disqus You sure got me, comparing me to Harold Bloom like that. All I said is that she isn't a genius, which is one of the most overused words of praise. No one was forbidding her from being praised.

I think she's a great Canadian writer and respect her and her work despite her arrogance, but I dispute that she is a genius.

@avclub-82cf46948ca0f531a256e38473c9282f:disqus He does sound like a dick. The science fiction field is basically nothing but cliches. It's pretty rare to have a book that isn't inherently derivative.
Oryx and Crake was such good science fiction because, while it may have touched on certain science fiction cliches,

@sacrelicious Oh I get it, you were talking about not being old enough, not too old. Wait, do I get it?

If you're really that concerned about being judged perhaps go read all the Brony comments on the last MLP review. Not only will you be secure in the knowledge that no one will care, you will also feel better about reading comics.

3 is alright, but it's missing a lot of the darkness of the first two. Or maybe it's just because I was older and the thought of the world blowing up seemed less terrifying as I became desensitized to the constant fear of this happening for real.

I deeply miss the unregistered days when it was 80% gimmick posts. The comments today rarely make me laugh as much or as loud as I did back then.

How about the imitator account, where someone copies a name but puts a 1 instead of an L because it looks the same in lower case? Or do we file them with the trolls?

@avclub-63706c2231765ca840e9a60a76fae00a:disqus I can see the merit in Vinny's criticism. I liked the movie for its weirdness and Phillip Seymour Hoffman, but ultimately Sandler did what all comedians trying to break into serious acting do: they act morose and subdued and serious, and somehow people interpret that as

I kept reading this like it was in the usual Sandler gibberish baby-voice but it wasn't quite working in my brain.

A similar incident happened in my family. My uncle printed something off which he brought over to our house. Unbeknownst to my uncle, he was recycling the paper in his printer and on the back side were a bunch of foot fetish stories (why he needed to print those out in the first place is beyond me). So during a later

I don't really understand this story. Your father's will declared that your sister was empowered to determine how much of the estate would go to the granddaughter, while not providing his other two children with anything? And the granddaughter had to meet certain requirements to get any money at all?

As an owner of an escort/party girl business you've shattered my allusions.

@avclub-e129a878f7b0e5aa9ac09e0282f64ea6:disqus  The Arctic Monkeys the most important band since Nirvana? This is just extremely wrong.
