No need to be a dick about it.
No need to be a dick about it.
It disturbs me that you know that.
I thought that was Vulture. Or Jezebel. Or Slate…
He might not make Time (who does anymore?), but he'll probably make the New Yorker.
I'm sorry, but fuck that right now. What about this?

You speak the truth. As great as the Stones got, I don't think they ever transcended their roots as fair-to-good imitators of American blues/R&B the way that the Who did (arguably from "Can't Explain" on).
I'm 21. I just thought that we had until 2026 before this happened.

Uh, I'm just getting into SF, and Vance is near the top of my to-read list (along with Le Guin, funnily enough!), so this is a mite worrying. Does he at least treat rape with any seriousness at all?
Skimmed through it - he's brilliant when talking about what he likes (the New York Dolls, kitchen sink films, poetry from Auden and Wilde), but it rapidly becomes clear that he hasn't really evolved from his Teen Prodigy years, and he slowly sinks into assholish caricature as the book goes on.
I think it was just the collision of campus film societies with student radicals/hippies. W.C. Fields and Groucho Marx had similar followings (and the latter was also friends with Alice Cooper).
Yeah, all I thought about is that the Onion REALLY wants some people pissed off at it…
Yeah, I'm a regular reader too, but more for their Bakers' Dozen feature than anything else.
Richard Harris on SCTV. Also, anything featured in an MST3k-riffed movie - Hobgoblins has already been mentioned, but Girl In Gold Boots and Horror Of Party Beach also deserve nominations.
