It's absolutely a black comedy. And that would be a great ending–Timon as dead to the world, but still a spectral presence, presumably walking the earth and spreading misanthropy like Caine from Kung Fu. (I wouldn't have him wink tho; just pissed-off glare then exit.)

Apemantus makes Timon a really fun play to teach.

Certainly your point stands. Sorry, it's a pavlovian thing for me with Timon, which always seems to be the go-to for 'bad Shakespeare'. I don't know why more people don't use King John instead–even that title is dull.

At least Abe Vigoda still lives.

Also not helping is that ESPN has literally gotten worse every year since about 1992

'Shakespeare's reputation is not tarnished by the fact that he wrote Timon of Athens as well as Hamlet.'

I have to agree with the people saying this is the worst Sunny season, and that they've gotten too far away from the basics. The meta-humor well runs dry very quickly, and they're close to tapping it. That said, there were a lot of funny moments here. But clearly a decline phase.

Please note that Diesel and Dust only went 7x platinum in Australia. It went 1x platinum in the US, which isn't bad for 1987.

Claviius quaestiones solvit, deus illum damnaret!

I walk with a slight limp because of an old football injury, but I wouldn't identify myself as 'lame'. What does that have to do with anything?

Nobody's son? Then you are Jesus Christ, and I claim my five pounds.

I totally agree that judges should simply, as Roberts claimed to do during his congressional hearings, 'call balls and strikes'. The first problem is, of course, the guidelines for calling a pitch a ball or a strike are subject to interpretation; there's not always a 'correct' call. But even worse, today the Supreme

I don't like it, and I usually ignore it, which is a better response than complaining about tone, which is ineffective and derails conversations. People have insulted their opponents literally since the dawn of time and it's not going to change. And honestly we can use a few more twats on the left.

I'm 'fixated' on Barry Scheck because he's the topic of this conversation. You're flailing, son!

That's actually why I thought it was him; the meta-joke of the actor changing up his own voice to play a prank caller.

Would white people be outraged if a thing that didn't happen happened? [*THINKS THINKS THINKS*] I have no idea, both because it didn't happen, and because I don't know all the white people. I'm going to take a flyer and guess that some would be, and some wouldn't. What that has to do with Barry Scheck being complicit

Of course it is, because if you're on Breitbart their kind of engagement is acceptable. I don't like them, so I'm not going to bother with them. What I'm also not going to do is get the vapours when someone on the left says something nasty about a conservative.

OJ had a good defense without Scheck. (Also, both can be ogres!) The 'just doing his job' doesn't wash; dude took it. There's a moral accounting to be made there.

Hey, it's not everyday we textual scholars can get excited about something. Especially something on Great Job Internet.
