Brett's stuff is punchier and more anthemic. He wrote some of their best, most enduring songs. Graffin's definitely much more on the intellectual/clever wordplay bent, but his vocal rhythms can suffer sometimes when he puts in one five dollar word too many.

I dunno, I think "Follow the Leader" is still worse than "I Love My Computer". There's a reason it was an unreleased B-side.

They have. Skip New America, it's dire, but all four albums past that (Process of Belief, The Empire Strikes First, New Maps of Hell and The Dissent of Man) have been either good or, in Empire's case, pretty great.

One of my personal favorites will always be "Come Join Us", off of The Gray Race, which I maintain is underrated.

Not sure how easy that is to find now, as it was a limited (expensive) release. But it was all of their albums (including Dissent of Man) remastered and released on vinyl with full liner notes. Came THIS close to buying it, but I don't actually have a record player.

Let's go where the raptor goes! To the mountain in a cosmic glow! We'll have a genuine terrestrial show! On a mountain, on a mountain!

After New Maps and Dissent (both of which I liked, didn't love), it's nice to have a new BR album that really doesn't have a single clunker or real misstep on it. "Dharma and the Bomb" might come closest for me, but it's still catchy as hell.

Personally I feel like it falls somewhere between Generator and Against the Grain, sound-wise.

1. Against the Grain
2. Generator
3. Recipe for Hate
4. Suffer
5. The Empire Strikes First

They actually did re-release it as part of their remastered 30th anniversary vinyl set.

But Sorkin's protagonists are pretty much just Sorkin self-inserts, especially when they go off on their mealy-mouthed crusader rants.

You're better than puns, Riddler. Come on, man. We'll let you scamper off with your costumes today, but this one's a charity crime.

There's also a good episode when they made the shift to the New Batman/Superman Adventures featuring the Ventriloquist attempting to reform that shows the "I believe in rehabilitation" side of Batman.

Dylan Moran should have played Dolorous Edd.

First bit is "Den", I think. A grizzly bear den, or a fox den.
