Hannigan has always been awful on HIMYM and Radnor is a nothing unless he's interacting with Segel.

Maron has always been a massive douche but still gets a good interview out of a good guest. Holmes as a person is just unbearable and the show isn't very good, it is either the stuff mentioned above or a conversation with his 'friends' that is incredibly insular and self-congratulatory.
But thankfully you had PFT there to rip into many of his worst tendencies. Tompkins either loathes Holmes as much as I do (I have never seen him do stand-up, just podcasts and TV appearances) or did a great job pretending he does.
Just don't listen, Holmes isn't worth it.
It's not that it's boring without a good guest it is that Garlin is terrible and the quality of the guest has to overcome him.
I find Besser's quote ironic, pretty much my thoughts when he "tries to be funny" in any medium. I really don't understand how he is what he is in the comedy landscape, particularly compared to the other 3 OG UCBers.
As much as I like WTF when it is good, that (like the follow-up Louis CK mention in Vulture where Louie reached out to just hang and Marc only wanted to talk again when they were recording) just tells you how much of an insufferable prick Maron actually is.
Hickman is liable to whole 'have I missed an issue here, I can't tell what is going' on thing too. Similarly while he isn't quite as demanding as Morrison in the sense of having to remember intricate details of what happened 4 years ago in his run, let alone 40 years ago for the character, but it can happen.
It isn't a show that would work with a character in that chair, he'll do bits but I imagine he'll basically present it straight doing the same material Jon would. He's funny being himself on the Bugle, so I expect it will be like that.
I expect the Bugle will be on hiatus over the Summer.
I didn't find Lapkus' character annoying, but it started off very one note until about halfway through.
I don't buy the thesis here at all. That isn't to say it wouldn't be a better show if Spacey were the big bad with less of a focus, but writing about what the show isn't in such a mutable and hypothetical manner really doesn't achieve anything.
I'm with you on Besser, my appreciation for his comedy really doesn't fit with his status in that scene. I gave up on IFH a long time ago too.
The endgame with Tusk has to be that he needs Frank to fuck over the President to get the Chinese nuclear stuff, otherwise it is all eminently pointless, but given the way they have established their relationship and his influence, I can't really fathom why Tusk wouldn't be able to exert that pressure himself. What…
He's not doing the right thing though, he's doing the expedient thing given the circumstances. Russo told him he actually wanted to do full AA and come properly clean, that exposes Underwood, not so much the bargaining of one district for another for favour, that shit is to be expected, but if Russo acknowledges the…
The Kaling interview was very much like he thought she was only successful because of her drive, which is unfair because she was very good both writing and performing in the Office, but I expect he saw her stand-up a few times and wrote her off entirely, particularly as she broke so young (which he hates as he is a…
He wasn't saying art isn't worthy, he was using 'film show' as a synonym for saying this isn't a fluffy entertainment show (which would have been the overwhelming majority of people at the junket). How many TV film shows discuss cinema in a truly critical manner?
Coming up with 50 sketch ideas and work-shopping them a bit in a room before focusing on the strong ones is a good idea, writing 50 in two to three days and selecting the ones that suck least is just stupid.

I can't remember what it was but she actually made one quite good joke this week, but ordinarily you are right, she is the fucking worst. The archetypal comedian who (probably through years of trial and error, and a stretch getting comfortable on stage when trying and failing to be an actor) understands the concepts…
