My curiosity got the better of me and I looked up the lyrics to that "Georgie Porgie" song and…. well… that's unfortunate. I mean, I probably wasn't the most enlightened kid 20 years ago, but I like to think even I would have been horrified by that shit.

Very well put, @avclub-e9308ddd417ab6c88042a71f916af7a5:disqus . I especially liked the mention of not knowing the religion of any of our politicians – that's something I've noticed before but never think to mention when discussing the differences between Canadian and US politics.

Haha, I read it.
You have feelings. Lonesome feelings.

Yeah, I remember reading about this guy in "Come As You Are" and various other Nirvana-related things and just figuring he was a bit of a fuck-up so it's really great to hear that he was able to find his place.

By the way, I was shopping for some short pants last week and thanks to all the anti-cargo shorts propaganda around here I tried on a bunch of non-cargo shorts and y'know what? They looked like shit on me so I bought some fucking cargo shorts.

Old 97s – Won't Be Home
Johnny Cash – Folsom Prison Blues
Dinosaur Jr – Thumb (great J Mascis guitar solo or greatest J Mascis guitar solo?)
Zoroaster – Trident
Neko Case – Maybe Sparrow

Seconding the recommendation for Blue.
There's some really great stuff on Red and the first two EPs as well (and I don't hate their latest, Yellow & Green) but front to back, Blue is fucking killer.

I don't know about that, @avclub-e129a878f7b0e5aa9ac09e0282f64ea6:disqus … I ended up dating a girl in high school for similar reasons.

I remember hearing good things about it, but I also heard good things about "Popular" so when I watched Popular and didn't like it I thought it was Freaks and Geeks I didn't like.

Haha, yeah… beyond the mayoral corruption and alleged crack-smoking we're also in the midst of a pretty huge senate corruption scandal that I hope ends in serious senate reform or even abolishment.

Hello, Warrissey.

Billot Logs, motherfuckers!

I kind of see Canada as being on the same trajectory as the US, just 15 years behind the times (ironically, after being ahead of the times 15 years ago).

Go-To Guy! Go to here now!

It's kind of hard to explain this gag, but one of my favourite jokes on the show was from the episode where Ladybird has gone missing and they fear she has rabies.

Gonna be a fucking ghost town around here by the end of the week. Nothing but a bunch of bored Canadians.

I worked with a guy a few years before this episode who imparted that same wisdom to me – always make it look like you could leave at lunch and just never come back and I kind of followed that advice for a long time.

This episode aired a few weeks before my wife and I took possession of our house, and yeah I remember feeling kind of sick to my stomach watching it that first time. I can laugh about it now, but back then? Oof.

I woulda been real disappointed in all you people if this comment wasn't here.

I hate to say this, but I'm actually finding Sluggo pretty funny these days. i think it's just his persistence and lack of any attempt to even disguise his blatant trolling but every time a new incarnation of the name arises from the ashes I sort of chuckle.
