To paraphrase George V's response to H. G. Wells: I may be white, but I'll be damned if I'm seventeen.

What, my last comment sounds like obnoxious AM radio to you? Geez, I felt bad about having been so angry earlier that I put ever so much extra care into explaining my opinion clearly and rationally. I'm sorry if I still sound obnoxious to you, Hef, although I'm sure if you read those four paragraphs again you'll see

Yeah, GZA sure, maybe Raekwon too — although the problem with the Wu axis is that GZA and especially Rae kept doing such great work on Clan albums and (others') solo joints that it's a little unfair to say they peaked early. More like "they only got one album produced by RZA." Only Ghost (who is such a great MC he

I mean, Enter the Wu is just an extraordinary album. I can only imagine what it must have been like to have been part of the scene when that dropped. It must have blown people's minds — I mean, I know it did, because the evidence is everywhere you look.

Hardly anybody knows it, but Sticky Fingaz's first album is crazy — a rap musical with a courtroom scene, a song told from the point of view of money (like literal money), a conversation with G-d, and guest monologues by Omar Epps. Really! It's called "Black Trash" and he'll never come close to it.

Mr. Murray it is actually to your credit that you dislike Em: it's the difference between "I hate hip-hop" and "I hate music by… you know… black people." So no harm done. With that said — and with the advisory that there is more musicality in any ten seconds of Outkast or Wu

no kidding — i'm so getting off on this i'm sorry i was catty in my first post. i believe it was composer Henry Brant who said that the best way to understand a piece of music was to listen to it and another piece at the same time.

Seriously, i am ROCKING OUT listening to all these songs at once. AWESOME!Q

i just discovered your page will let me play multiple tracks at once! not even itunes will let me do that. suddenly the banal lowlights of your knock-kneed wonderbread collection became much more entertaining!

a fine suggestion!

This is important — while on trial for the oklahoma city bombing, Timothy McVeigh was asked about all of the innocents whose lives were claimed (like the kids in the daycare center) when he took out the federal building, and he explained that when the rebels blew up the repaired death star lots of

lately someone has been tagging my neighborhood with stenciled portraits of Chapman over the word "IMAGINE." I've been thinking (I must admit) that they were totally subversive and awesome; but now I'm worried that they were viral marketing for this movie. Anyone else seen these / heard of this?
