Obviously I agree. Doctor Who currently fills my need for TV Sci Fi, but it is really it's own unique animal.  I never got into Fringe, but obviously with that show ending the field is wide open for a new king of television SF to step in. And make no mistake, TV Sci-Fi is a VERY lucrative niche product when done

The few regularly airing shows I really care about will be back: GoT, Archer, Spartacus and Doctor Who, so I'm doing great. Plus, with the prospect of Venture Bros. finally coming back, I'll have more than usual to watch in 2013.

@avclub-b1930b61fe9011a84ab4eb80af65ec45:disqus The Animus is from the First Doctor serial "The Web Planet"  (in which it is indeed a very Lovecraftian type entity)

It is kind of odd that NuWho hasn't at least tried going to that well yet.  The "relatively primitive fish-out-of-water" dynamic made for some really fun companions in Classic Who (i.e. Jamie, Leela).

Also, The Doctor breaking the fourth wall was a tribute to the very first Christmas episode "The Feast of Steven", all the way back in 1965.

The Cybermen are cool but their stories rarely lived up to the potential of their concept. I actually think Gaiman is the perfect writer to bring them back. Expect body horror galore.

On the upside, the singing in the talent portion has to be heard to be believed.

I disagree about that scene being bad. But then, I'm of the opinion that Darkseid should always be the most powerful in any confrontation, and that the heroes should only win by some fluke.

I'd say she's above average as a comedic actress.  As far as dramatic roles go, she's never gonna win any awards but she generally holds her own.

See, I generally have a pretty high tolerance for "fanwank".  I just thought the ideas in Lungbarrow were, frankly, really stupid.
