Enjoying the Vonnegut love
Strangely enough, I'd just finished re-reading Slaughterhouse 5 about an hour before this popped up. Nice work Zack! I'm a huge fan of his work.

@Erudite Eric: Are you perhaps implying through sarcasm that he isn't? He has many faults but being ignorant isn't one of them. The amount of obscure references to things like medieval alchemical lore, religion, European philosophers and 20th century pop culture buried in a lot of his work is staggering, and something…
I have to agree. Korn's first two album were actually fairly good for all their faults. There's a lot of innovative guitar work there, and the misogyny and arrogant sense of entitlement hadn't fully developed yet.
A lot of traditional Chinese cuisine is based on the same principles as soul food- ie, the masters would take all the good meat and leave the serfs to use all the disgusting stuff they didn't want.
Nick Clegg's Ideological Commitment to Unreconstructed Thatcherism: That was less of a boast and more just me explaining why I love that album :P
I do love a few tracks off this album but it's not as amazing as his later albums. I seem to be alone in thinking Fragile is his best album, but then I love emotive instrumentals, overblown storylines and melodrama in music. Plus as a soundtrack composer that one's definitely been a huge influence..
Damon Albarn is the lead vocalist on Dare, surely.
"I love it when you get all toughy-pants.. Whoops! Oh, I think I'm chubbing up"
That ep definitely felt like a series finale, I mean they always like to throw in big game-changing events at the end of a season but that was just insane. Big kudos for the Brock subplot, quite apart from all the ace resolution with Molotov, the scene where the prostitutes mutate into flies and he grins and walks…
classic flynn: Thank you
It depends what you mean by mainstream culture. 'Commercial Radio Pop' was definitely taking influences elsewhere, but some of the more gothic/alternative/rock pop was definitely taking Bowie as a big influence. Marilyn Manson released Mechanical Animals that was practically a tribute to Bowie in places (and a…
epochellipse: True, but since he didn't even get credited for it in the liner most people would assume he was bullshitting..
It is ALL about Candidate/Sweet Thing. Those three songs are probably the biggest influence on my own lyrical style. Huge portion of lyrics quoted here but genius like that deserves it:
I'm just bracing myself for Kanye West announcing that Justin Bieber is more talented than Bowie.. Eugh
Before I saw that film, I was an innocent little girl. Now look at me.
idiotking: Love it, drag queens and Bowie are an excellent combination. I had an amazing birthday a few years ago that involved much cocaine, cocktails and a tranny band playing 70's glam covers.. ahhh precious memories ^_^
Under Pressure is amazing..
Ooo, please don't encourage me, I'm already going to have to change my knickers after reading this one…
Damnit, some day I have to get in on one of these threads a bit earlier. It happens every time, as I'm reading thru I have comments to make, then it turns out they've all already been made.
Seriously, am I the only one who wishes that website exists? Fuck Facebook & Twitter, I'd spend all my time on Puffin Party!
