I'm going to have to go with Season 10 being the last great season since this one…  Tsst,  Make Love not Warcraft, A million little Fibers, Go God Go and even Cartoon Wars.  At least 1/2 the episodes were instant classics.

I now wish I hadn't read the comments last week.  After last weeks episode I didn't think it was possible that Walter had poisoned Brock, until I read the discussion.  If the folks here hadn't been that smart, the last shot would have been absolutely stunning to me, as opposed to a confirmation of other peoples

As hard as this is to think of.  Walt may have to go after Jesse…

I doubt much of it was filmed in Portland.  There wasn't any real Portland character in any of the shots at all, and everything looked too sunny and bright.

You think Gustavo will keep Walt around to frame him?  It's a good ending, Walter goes down not just as the Chemist, but as the drug-lord which is really all he wanted(a little respect).  And Gus Fring continues running a business behind the scenes.

I'm pretty sure this will be Walter's and Skylar's final "break."  Walter will kill Ted and Skylar will be there as a part of the event…  No going back after that.

I was with Michael Moore until Fairenheit 911 which seemed to be rushed and in a lot of ways half-baked.  There was a lot of guilt by association.  This person knows this person and is involved with this company which might be involved in this stuff, as opposed to hard evidence.

I think that Jesse is definitely going to Mexico.   My guess is the deal with the cartel means that Gus would stick to distribution while the cartel takes over production.  This means once Jesse is done training the Mexican's both he and Walt are entirely expendable.  However, Jesse has always been more expendable

The best part of that scene is the sad sigh and pause before he launches his speech, because he has just enough self-awareness to know he's about to ruin stuff with the porn star, yet he can't help himself.

I think authors have to have other interests to keep writing fertile material.  It seems to me the doom of most authors fantasy or otherwise is at a certain point they start rehashing instead of reflecting on their worldview.  However, there is that spiraling out of control and taking smaller and smaller steps illness

It is a different kind of mediocrity than say: King of Queens or Law and Order. It's a combination of brilliant moments and filler. More on the scale with the lesser futurama or southpark episodes…

I'm with the reviewer on this. I loved Freaks and Geeks, because I could have been one of the geeks on the show. I still hang out with nerds, I work near a high concentration of Phd Physicists and yet I don't think any of the characters on BBT seem like real live people instead of nerd caricatures.

curious about this
But will I need to see the first 4 to understand what's going on?

I saw them recently at a live show, and while I can understand the backlash and the dislike, they really made an effort to put on a good show. At heart they seem to be entertainers and sometimes it's good to just see folks who want to entertain you.

pacing question
I'm starting to wonder if the excruciating commercial break pacing of current reality shows is helping to build suspense or lose audiences. I don't have a DVR or cable so I occasionally end up watching parts of episodes of reality shows when I'm bored. But, every time they cut to commercial before

I think one of the main problems with "Indie quirk" is the shorthand you mentioned. Quirk's work better when they are natural and come from depth of character. People in general are naturally odd, so we don't need shorthand to point out how they are interesting. TV can get away with quirky characters a lot better

Someone at wikipedia thinks she's adorable too:

sad that some good ones aren't being renewed, but Raising Hope has been the most consistent of the startups.

My personal favorite:

@ecletic eel. I second Baxter…. A friend of mine named his dog Baxter and I always monologue for him with a French accent.
