Exactly. Why are people hating on the actress for playing a cowardly/hypocritical/two-faced character exceedingly well? She didn't write her character (although likely has a little input).

Interestingly, I think my first pop-culture crush was Christina Ricci as Wednesday Addams and then the chick in Casper, despite the fact that I'm a straight woman. That first crush made me question lots of things…

Casting actors as different (primarily younger) ages has done a number on what I assume peoples' ages are, both in movies and in real life, such that I have no clue how old anybody is or is supposed to be. I saw Taxi Driver when I was 14/15, and I didn't know that Foster was 16 at the time. It was more awkward finding

Yeah, I just realized that the last time I took a good look at Tom Jones was in "Mars Attacks!" and he was young and plastic.

Looking forward to the Tom Jones cover. Why aren't there more of those?

I don't know if it's been said already, but TOM WAITS. Not all of his stuff, but definitely his most pirate-y, crazy-yet-well-meaning-hobo-sounding songs. Like "Cold Water", "Misery is the River of the World", "Cold Cold Ground", "Kommeniezuspat", and such and such. I remember when I was 16 and my boyfriend introduced

Hah, yeah, I dismissed it when I first heard about it as another stupid teen movie. My more open-minded friend finally convinced me to watch it by telling me about the scene where Bianca's OB-GYN father made her wear "the belly" around before going to the party. Also, even Roger Ebert said that the movie was better

How about a pre-500 Days of Summer Joseph Gordon Levitt vehicle, which also happened to feature Heath Ledger? Heath Ledger singing "Can't take my eyes off of you" in 10 Things I Hate About You. https://www.youtube.com/wat…

Yeah, me too. A lot of them went over my head the first time (I was 7), like the "ribbed for her pleasure… ewwwwwww," and I didn't know exactly what "I'd like the cream of sum yun gai" meant, but that didn't stop me from saying it- a lot- much to my mother's amusement. For some reason, I definitely got "you're in a

Wow, no mention of The Brian Jonestown Massacre and Anton Newcombe? I saw him when he was tame and not drinking quite as much a few years ago, and he still yelled unintelligible-yet-angry-sounding things at my friend and I outside the venue. However, he was determined not to throw too big a tantrum while onstage even

My friend's mom was a librarian and her mission in life was to get everyone to read that book. I grew up next to an old cemetery, and was particularly terrified about the coming apocalypse. When the clouds were right. After a while, though, the fear wore off and I convinced my neighbors to go and try to raise the

AHHHHH, I had the exact same experience with Saturday Night Fever!!!! I loved the BeeGees, and the entire SNF soundtrack when I was 11, listened to it nonstop, and begged my mom to rent the movie for me and my friend. She acquiesced and wondered aloud why it was rated R and that she didn't remember anything bad in it.
