I like shows/movies etc that really swing for the fence. SFU goes balls to the wall when it comes to trying to make the viewer feel something, be it depression or fear or whatever. I can't watch an episode and then not examine my own life and emotions for an hour afterward. It just a fucking powerful show, man.

When this show first started airing I was 18 and thought Nate was the coolest. I still really like him in the first couple seasons. Then life beat him down repeatedly and he wasn't as likeable anymore. In a way that character progression was realistic but I did miss the fun Nate in the later seasons.

I agree that season 4 is the weakest. And I agree that season 5 is full of misery. But in the case of season 5 I don't think thats a bad thing.
