The streak of Sandra Bullock never appearing in a good movie is in its 3rd decade. She is so terrible that she can't even pull a Matthew McConaughey and stumble into a good movie every 10 years or so.

Probably my favorite book adaptation is Empire Falls and that was a 6 part miniseries so I think there is merit to preferring it over a movie, especially with an episodic book like Cloud Atlas.

Obama doesn't support gay marriage, so why should you expect people who voted for him to? Obama has done some things for the gay community but overall he is far from progressive on that subject or many others.

13 Assassins was pretty awesome. Takashi Miike is like the Japanese Woody Allen. By that I mean he puts out at least a movie a year in all sorts of genres and most of them are great.
