So, is Mr. Brooks worth a watch? I mean for more than what was spoiled up above? I see that it's playing on Showtime now and then I can love me some serial killer action now and then, but haven't bother paying attention to the timing.

I liked the explanation of the grading system from the letter to the editors blog here. It is subjective, and a grade depends, in part, on whether it accomplishes what it sets out to do, whether it meets expectations, entertains, not to mention technical aspects of the film making itself. That said, there is no way

Yes, they have to pay taxes on the free stuff, though when the value is under a certain limit, they might get away with 'forgetting'. When it's a car, Oprah makes sure to tell the IRS she gave a fucking car, and how much it was worth, and here's the address of the suck..err viewer she gave it to.

defined and named
To me, the lifetime pass goes to someone who did some one great thing that affected me so much at the time that I will always have fond thoughts for them and even if I see them do shitty work, I will forgive it and still hold them in high regard for that one great thing. I agree with a lot of the

I count myself fortunate to have not seen 99% of what have been called the worst movies over the last 10 years or so. My worst in recent memory, Sex and the City. goddamnaweful, but I'm grateful that it was a borrowed dvd my girlfriend got and that she hated it as much as I did. I'm not sure why we watched it, other

the ABC viewer has an options set up that will automatically continue the show after the commericial. But I will agree that the volume is pretty fucked up. Adjusting is a pain as it has a sliding volume scale, but mostly just goes too soft or too loud no matter what you try to slide it to.

I don't know. Last few episodes I've tried on Hulu have been unwatchable due to skip-pausing, whereas abc on the same computer showed Castle just fine. If networks want you to watch their shit on their own site, I'm ok with it, and haven't seen Hulu as any better than anything else.

hmmm….doughnuts

and now I've all summer to forget how bad the show is…
and will likely tune in for next season. meh. I guess I've gotta do something on Monday night, but damn.
I admit that the first thing I said after watching (and that is not an attempted first, I know there are 150 replies already) was "maybe we can be done with

To my way of thinking, a reboot is a new tale starting something over into a new sequence or series, even it ultimately is stand alone. Batman Begins was a reboot of the Batman movie franchise with a review of origin, etc.

I tear up a lot
For a lot of dumb reasons, and at many that have been mentioned like Eternal Sunshine, most resolved to fight through a hopeless fight stuff, sacrifice, etc. I've teared up just reading a lot of this.

I liked it well enough when I saw it at the time, but thought it overly gimmicky. Then it beat Pulp Fiction for best picture and I hate it, and the oscars.

I don't infer that reviewer thought Shoot'em Up was bad, just an inferior action flick to Crank and its sequel. I like both, and must in fact admit a preference for Shoot'em Up for the death by carrot humor. However, public sex with Amy Smart likely trumps carrot induced death. I guess I'll have to watch all again

Well, I kind of liked the feudal Japan journey, more in concept than execution, but it was a classic Terminator loop where he went back and ended up creating/becoming the hero he read about as a child. It lacked a bit here and there, but compared to the latter day "I can run so fast now that I can go back and forth

Oooh, so now we'll have an Odo, turning into furniture and shit? Give him a new nifty T2 liquid metal special effect to really fuck things up. G'head Heroes, it'll be fun, and Sylar, the once friendly neighborhood psychopath, can wonder at the existential implications of being a rock. Not sure on rock dna, but what

@ Limmic - Sylar got dna from his mom via the bloody shirt out of the evidence box, and from Nathan's toothbrush after breaking into his office. I too was bothered by the apparent retroactive application of the power, but this part was explained or shown to the viewer.

The Eastern Promises twist as to the nature of Viggo's motivation kind of ruined what was an otherwise excellent movie. It was unnecessary and complicated issues in ways that I thought could not be easily or logically resolved. However, I've been meaning to see it a second time with foreknowledge of the twist to see

of taking and giving
From my parents, mostly Mom (ok, all Mom) came Star Trek and sci-fi generally. My dad is too folk music and beach boy happy for my taste and he was constantly either playing or singing those himself. So, I went the opposite and headed for angry white boy heavy metal for most of my youth. From

I started reading Hobbit to my kids, but they lost interest and it's been a while. We've read other books since, but I do feel bad about that and now think they might be ready. Given that I'm about to get them full time for the summer, it sounds like a plan to me.

well, I had two with the wrong woman, got the big V while still married knowing we shouldn't have any more, and now, though I'm sure I'm with the right woman, reversal is out of my financial range and her window of opportunity shut (most likely, that's what we tell ourselves anyway) or is so narrow as to be shut now
