It's a sickening inversion of the comic. Instead of being the healthy refutation of vigilantes of the comics it's basically propaganda for them.

Yes it's astonishing how many people moan about Moore but don't know the facts. He's one of the few guys with principals who sticks to them even when faced with tonnes of cash.
@avclub-077634601aceeca8f23d118414476e0d:disqus yeh how dare he be honest when people go out of their way to contact him to ask specifically for a quote. He should just lie because um… oh yeh he's got no good reason to lie about how he feels. It's refreshing.
"Yeah, I was really asking for it by sitting quietly by myself and
reading a science fiction book with a stupid cover - should have known
better. I really got what was coming to me."
XXL
Fair enough on that minor quibble but the point was that asking someone to imagine the film without the thing that makes it smart as an argument as to why it isn't smart is an odd argument.
Well the way it's scripted is very clever so yeh if you take way what's clever about it then it's not clever but that's a bit of an odd argument.
The fact these people had their lives ruined and were trying to rebuild from a trauma they didn''t understand, the fact they pushed and fought and became stronger as a team and overcame what was done to them. The sheer raw emotion expressed when their "children" were snatched and murdered. All of that and more got to…
Of course, which is why I said you must be crazy… to not care about the characters.
"And Upstream Color was definitely the coldest film I saw."
You sir, are a crazy man. It's heartbreaking and beautiful.
While Before Midnight is a good film and nice trilogy capper it's also catnip to 40yr old film critics dealing with long term relationships so I really can't trust the amount of praise it gets.
Hehe yeh. UC is my favourite film of the year bar none. And I love Film Crit Hulk but when he was waxing lyrical about how a thorough understanding of Walden is needed to appreciate the film I had to shake my head and laugh.
And Jamie flying kicks Bran off the window ledge into a threshing machine.
It doesn't in the books, you can pretty much keep it for the show, sure seeing it televised could make it more visceral (literally) but I wasn't really talking the about gore anyway.
Yes.
"far less monstrous and imposing" - Basically the show in a nutshell compared to the books, though I still love it.
Addicts can and do have their moments of clarity in public as well as private, even addicts as reprehensible as Washington's was so it's not really a stretch at all.
Er, about that last reason guys…
Kilmer's Wayne > Bale's Wayne > Keaton's Wayne > Clooney's Wayne
Keaton's Batman > Bale's Batman > Kilmer's Batman > Clooney's Batman
