I remember noticing that in the cinema, Mann's little fuck you to people clamouring for the DeNiro/Pacino face off. It's even more pronounced at the end amongst the freight containers.

Of course, Martin Scorsese wouldn't be where he was today if it wasn't for his mother's directorial clout.

Well it happened with Girls and Patrick Wilson and it's apparently shamefully sexist to mention it so you better shush!

I'm way late to this but I disagree. Burton's version IS terrible and an insult to the original. I don't see Wilder saying any remake would be an issue, just an awful tone deaf one.

Hi, sorry, I wasn't being clear. And I should add I'm in the UK. The statistical trend I was talking about is the drop in violent and sexual crime, nearly all crime in fact has been falling since the 70's.
Now the Steubenville case is horrific and deeply worrying but you have to factor in the insane reverence the U.S

Here's my issue with that though. I have en ex who was raped and two very good friends who were nearly sexually assualted, there may well be more friends who have been raped but obviously haven't talked about it. The reactions from everyone I know was one of horror, shock and anger, there was no "well may you

Yes, but you'll now also see howls of outrage at the "misogynist, rape endorsing This Is The End" by the large minority of people who can't do subtlety. And then the inevitable "Rogen is a secret rapist because of this and Observe and Report" all over Tumblr.

Peter Hook never played himself though so he's entirely wrong about that.

Norwich is really more the arse-end of nowhere not the middle.

Full on cultural autodidact here, probably why I can get so vehement and passionate about things a lot of people are more relaxed about.

Franco's head is perfect you bastard.

@avclub-3be42d8a3412057f79af152555e39bd4:disqus - Please don't make be do a Lena Dunham is fat joke, please. I'm not that much a cunt but you have set it up so well.

Post more, she's hotter than the sun!

@avclub-ca6cb47da12090ffd2470daf51f71be1:disqus , good point. Fingers crossed.

Basically yes - she's not the hard-eyed, feral killer she is in the books. And it's meant we miss the one truly cathartic and transcendent scene in the whole saga.

@avclub-f2b489efd726db529335e31c83509c73:disqus , exactly! There's no impact lessening going on here. Catelyn is dead as dead can be. Stoneheart is the "living" embodiment of the Freys/Lannisters/Boltons crimes and as such is truly terrifying because it's a truly human monster not just "the other" of White Walkers

And it was still nowhere near as good as in the books.

They softened Arya like they softened the whole series and it's a damn shame.

Did someone call?
