I think the legitimate part of the "fake female geeks" thing can be understood by asking "Where the hell were they when I was a sad teenage loser who had nothing in common with any of the girls in highschool". There's a feeling that it's only since geek culture got mainstream and "cool" that more women flocked to it.…
