Again, I said there was no obligation to go into the history. But just leaving the audience with the clear implication that black = dangerous is shitty and racist, and he deserved to be criticized for it. If you're going to leave an "observation" like this at the level of banal racism, skip it.

Predominantly black neighborhoods tend to be more dangerous because of decades of racist policy designed to suck wealth and opportunities for economic advancement through legal activity out of those neighborhoods. Acting like the "black" part rather than the "racist policy" part is what makes the neighborhoods

I mean, maybe it comes across differently in person, but this (from your first link) is not great: "It's all black people at, like, two in the morning. It's not in the greatest neighborhood."

Saw it on VOD and was not at all impressed. The script was extremely weak—the writer has a real tin ear for dialogue—and the practical effects during the climax were goofy-looking. Fessenden was quite good and had a scary scene towards the end, but the rest of the cast failed to rise above the poor material.

It's now been several months since I watched the episode, but I don't think your read on the drug is supported by anything that's stated or fairly implied on the screen. The drug is presented as some kind of anti-anxiety thing, and while it may make the user more suggestible, it clearly doesn't remove their free will,

Jeb Bush now considering new "fantasy is the situation" position, in which Iraq today is a thriving, peaceful democracy ruled by a stable multifaith coalition that is kindly disposed towards the U.S.

"Not all of them have the keen eye we do here at ROK."

He's been gone for a while, and sometimes you forget just what a terrible writer Todd VanDerWerff truly is. Whether he's reaching for eloquence and grabbing a handful of air:

Date rape drugs incapacitate. There's nothing in the text of the episode to suggest she was incapacitated.

Between her and Alicia Vikander, he certainly has a type.

Once dad gets shipped off to the frontlines, having agreed to take the place of flatfooted older son London

The comment you're replying to did not use your protected mark, so you are owed nothing.

Because I watched like the first six episodes, and it failed to grab me? I rely pretty strongly on the grab factor in deciding what to watch; not enough time in the world to watch every damn prestige drama.

I've had the impression for a while that Madsen is kind of a dick, and this interview certainly doesn't do anything to dispel that. Holding onto a three-decade-old grudge about not having his guest star spot mentioned during an awards speech? Sheesh.

Oh man, I just did that level last night, went from 34 Insight to 6. But I did manage to get the shortcut open, finally, so I just hope there are no other really intense brainsucker sequences. In general, I like games that don't harshly punish you for failure, and Bloodborne mostly passes that test—the main exception

I definitely think Melisandre did pull the Mance/Rattleshirt switcheroo. Rattleshirt was featured far too prominently in that scene if they're not setting up that revelation down the road.

Me too, but best movies of the decade?

Snowpiercer, just lol. No one actually thought that movie was profound or interesting, right?

Maybe Netflix is paying them like $2500 an episode and banking on their goodwill/desire not to piss off fans to keep them from just point-blank refusing?

Christ, it hasn't been good since the end of season 2. Let it die already.
