Sorkin: No, no, let them address me. It's about time I got to answer a
few questions here. The question is, "Did I write a shitty television?"
Which makes me wonder if this "Club," has any idea as to the kind of
grades one must receive in college to be accepted to a top screenwriting
school, or if you have the vaguest…

@avclub-e65076d21d4b718526e684473c359d55:disqus , I agree, and I think your criticism could probably be applied to all of Nolan's action films. But hey, at least the fight scenes were coherent in this one.

I had the same reaction right when it happened, because I felt like it completely throws interest in Bane out the window, almost randomly. But the parallel between the Ghul/Bane and Batman/Catwoman relationship is really endearing, especially considering that it emphasizes the fact that Commissioner Gordon and Ra's Al…

Plus, the anesthetic works thematically to highlight the difference between Batman and Bane (One feels the pain of the people, the other numbs and exploits it, and stuff).

Homages to Quentin Tarantino create meta-levels of homage-ry that I don't trust filmmakers to find their way out of.
At the end of making an homage to Quentin Tarantino, you will never know if the top stopped spinning.

I really liked Away From Her, and enjoyed the hell out of Polly's attempt here, but she hits you over the head with insane amounts of obvious symbolism. I felt like I was watching a movie that was being directed simultaneously by Ingmar Bergman and a film school freshman who wants to impress their professor.

I don't really like the term "you have to be high to enjoy," because I've never encountered something that I loved while stoned but thoroughly didn't enjoy sober.
I do feel that there's programming you need to have tried weed to properly enjoy though. Tim and Eric feels that way to me. I rarely watch it stoned, but…
