That one's my favorite Monty- becuase we need only roll back the clock two prequels to see how that didn't mean shit back when Ben fought Darth Maul and extricated himself from a similar if not more perilous predicament.  Of course, I also saw it as Anakin's staggering incompetence that he would leap straight at and

It also thinned the ranks of the more decent Starfleet Admirals, as we shall see as episodes progress, once you earn that final pip the odds are 60/40 you'll become a morally compromised asshole with facist tendencies.

No, contrary to what I wrote I do agree, particuarly the ones where I'm reading the article and the entire screen goes grey  and then begins showing a page-size ad and I'm forced to navagate the entire screen to find the insidiously well-hidden "close window" option that may or may not be a link.  That shit does make

But… but it pays for our free snark and 12 pages of trek commentary! ; )

I think that can be glossed over by way of saying that the trial was going to be over so damn quickly and O'Brien so royally fucked in record time that Odo stepped up to the plate.  One of the things that makes the ep pop so much is the merciless efficiency of the courts where its all the DS9 folk can do to even keep

The Circle is one of my favorite moments of the series entire.  Stellar turns from Fletcher, Langella, and Macht (in particular), the conflicted portrayal of Li Nalas, that fun scene in the ducts where everyone's talking about rations to try and relieve the tension.  This was the moment the show became great for me.

You know what, its worth quoting the whole exchange:  Winn: You live without a soul, Commander. You and your Federation exist in a universe of darkness and you would drag us in there with you. But we will not go. Sisko: You have just made your first mistake, Vedek. Winn: Have I? Sisko: The Bajorans who have lived with

"We don't always agree. We have some damn good fights, in fact."   I love that line.  I love the whole speech.  I love that Brooks doesn't give this information with any regret or bitterness or sadness, but with relish- enjoying the tumultuous relationship he shares with his Bajoran co-workers because the station and

Remember kids, you haven't won an argument until you've channelled Douglas C. Niedermeyer.

See, it was one thing to have him trying to talk to the cat while the cat simply repeated its mantra over and over.  It was another thing to give him a cape and shoulder fins.  Brilliant.

Oh Onion, tell my why I'm wrong once again!  Heh.  I missed the episode earlier in the evening but  had it on for the midnight replay.  My wife was resting her head on my chest- big mistake- by the third Oh Long Johnson, I was shaking so hard trying to repress my laughter that she swore disgustedly and rolled away

Well, I suppose you could dye the Tiger a little better, but… point.

Yeah, pity the poor person who opens "Starship Troopers" after seeing the film, or conversely, the "Troopers" reader who goes into the movie expecting a treatise on a military society.  John Steakley was so annoyed with the lack of ST's detail on the effect of war on human beings that he wrote his own version,

Miller, I thought the same thing about the "Lost World" book- it was one of the first novels I had ever cracked that read like something someone expected to be filmed.  From Ian Malcolm's flippant ressurection to Crichton having a dinosaur that could change colors to camoflauge itself, which might be within the realm

I agree with King's irritation that from the start of the film you can see that Nicolson is batshit, or at least… not quite there (I also  think that Nicholson makes a pretty great stand-in for Stephen King himself sans his glottal "L's"- moreso than Steven Webber).  And while the miniseries just didn't have the

Hooper's death in the book is one of the most memorable passages. But on the whole I agree with Craig that  the film actually bests the book- it jettisons the "Peyton Place" aspects of Benchley's novel (and Coppola did much the same with Puzo's "The Godfather which was, like Ellen's affair in "Jaws" was much more
