Yeah, great movie.
Need to watch this again!
Yeah, great movie.
Need to watch this again!
Needs more Herzog & Lucky Jim
These are "pop culture" if The Corrections is.
Anyone else find Christian Bale unbearably annoying in absolutely every film he appears in?
No, still just me?
Eurotrip is one of the (at least) three possible answers for the last one, yes.
You win 11p.
Let's play 'spot the movie from the lesson learned'
Lesson 1. When spelunking always select well-explored passages, especially if most of your party have never been underground before
Lesson 2. It's probably not worth the effort and danger involved to travel to an area undergoing a civil war and lead the rebels just to…
Cats are cooler than dogs.
Apart from Snoop Dogg.

I saw him live a couple of weeks ago,
he played, yes, mostly solo bass, and was absolutely astonishing.
For anyone thinking this pretentious or self-indulgent, all I can say is don't judge it until you've heard it.
The Magic Christian
= great book, massively disappointing film.
Thanks for talking about the former rather than the latter.
AJR - Remember those jazz types who were still complaining about rock & roll being music for kids way into the 60s? Well, you're like that, but worse. It's the 21st century now. If you want to be a closed-minded nostalgic has-been at least keep it to yourself.

So…
I really love this movie.
It's just images and sounds, make of them what you will.
Unfortunately everyone wants to analyse it to death.
Plots have their place, but you can have a great film without one.
So, you're saying people are stupid so we have to talk down to them?
His ideas about race are just incredibly odd. Did you read the "kill whitey" chapter in Stupid White Men? I would swear that he genuinely doesn't understand that inverted racism is still racism. There seems to be no irony in the chapter whatsoever, which is fairly worrying.
TomWaits - you said all I wanted to say in response to Terry, and said it better too. Thanks.
I also liked Sicko, for what it's worth.
I'm not assuming that everyone commenting on here is on the left, but Moore is all about the "us and them" things. I'm assuming anyone on the "them" side will already hate him on principle.
He had a poster up on the tube in London advertising his election guide last year.
It said something like "Mike's election rule #10 - They are always lying. It's your job to make them prove it." Now, surely assuming everything someone says is a lie is just as bad as assuming everything they say is true. Either way…
He's not a hero. He's got the right general ideas, but he adopts such a scattergun approach that nothing hits the target. He doesn't check his facts and that just gives more ammunition to the right. Also he could do with having a smaller ego. The constant camera-hogging thing got tiresome years ago.
The remake isn't as bad as I expected. It's a different show, with some good jokes in parts. If they'd changed the names it would have got a much better reception.
This line annoys me a lot
"as mannered and claustrophobic as a radio play"
What, all radio plays are mannered and claustrophobic? I guess all TV shows are banal and sensationalist too? I know radio drama in the US isn't doing too well these last 50 years, but there's no need to dismiss the whole genre (if not medium).…
