Solid gold, my friend.

The best way to watch it is like a morally corrupt rat in a plot-driven, Kafkaesque maze.

Your rating is close but a more accurate point on the scale would be "Neither C+ nor B-" if you're truly torn between B+ and C-. I'll give you a B- for showing your work.

I think Jim has dean and good job of dean-monstrating the dean-lightful aspects of Satur-dean morning cartoons dean-spite the troubling, some would say dean-maging, image of Scooby-Dean dean-cing with a costume.

This takes the phase "bust a nut" to a whole 'notha level.

For me, Mara's arc is synonymous with Shane's. As an individual character, she's not altogether interesting. But her dynamic with Shane is a major force driving the end game of the show.

Rewatching these episodes reminded me of how much I disliked Mara from the start. I really can't tell if it's the character or the actor.

Eddie Marsan was great in Happy Go-Lucky… here's hoping he blows his lid on a regular basis as the show continues.

Let's all agree to re-watch A History of Violence and call it quits, yes?

You mean corrupted hero.

Or you could just watch Criterion's Blu-Ray for Seven Samurai and forget you ever saw this trailer.

My vote goes to mish-mash of the awesome shit depicted in X-Men (2nd series) #25 and Wolverine #75. Magneto can manipulate metal objects. Wolverine has metal grafted to his skeleton (including bone claws as noted in these issues - mystery solved). Why anyone at Marvel think about this earlier is a total mystery.

Yeah, the absurdity of that thought process (re: butt cracks bad, exposed bone and muscle not so much) makes it almost seem offensive that they didn't censor those images.

It's not random, it's syncopated.

Based on the first episode, I had no idea where this show was going. Church scandals. Criminal underbellies. SNAP meetings. Hollywood facades. Family drama. Sabretooth beatings. As soon as I saw the Tony-Carmela dynamic between Ray and his wife, I found something to invest in. Everything else is still pending because

I'm uncertain about the long-term prognosis of Hannibal; despite the warm critical and fan reception, ratings were not good. But apparently NBC has enough "faith" to renew for Season 2… we'll see what happens next year.

I don't know the long-term plans for Hannibal but Season 1 ended really well. Ideally, I would love to see the show go long enough so that we end up with a season-long remake of Manhunter. It helps that the season was relatively short - I think the shorter form helps pace the narrative in a way that is uncommon for

What I particularly appreciate about The Shield is the willingness of the writers to leave certain complex issues more or less unresolved. Julian's sexual identity is a great example. He never truly overcomes his conflicted feelings and attitudes. On the one hand, he desperately wants to live a "normal" (i.e.,

While I generally agree with your take on many aspects of this show, I really disagree with your assertion that The Shield refuses to deal with the psychology of its characters (you've said similar things in the past). I would argue that the willingness to explore what people are thinking and why they do the the
