I remember the Secret Failuress (Sour Grapes), but what on earth was the Semi-Secret Fiascopiece?

You're right- and I can see Sarah as an older Susie too.
To me, this song and the opening scene in the ice skating rink are inexorably linked and I can't hear it without getting misty eyed cause I may be a heathen Jew but I fucking love Christmas Eve on Sesame Street and it turns me into a nostalgic bag of weepiness. A Charlie Brown Christmas does the same too.
Zits
this one is pretty much the only thing I really look forward to in the daily paper (of course I do have a weird compulsion to read every single strip in the paper, which sucks cause we get Mallard Fillmore dumped on us). It's one of the few "observations about a demographic" strips that is consistently funny…
Are we welcome in your Christmas Fallout Shelter (and Chinese buffet) or is this just for the Shiskas?
Well it says "holiday entertainments", and this probably the only mass-marketed "Hanukkah" movie out there but I put it in quotes cause this movie aint a helluva lot different than other crass, manipulative winter festivity schmaltz out there. It'd be one thing if it actually went for the cynicism and humor the whole…

Even as a little girl the sincere fairy tale romance made me all cynical about love, without the help of seeing "ironic" movies like Shrek first. Then again I always identified most with the asexual comic relief characters anyway, so clearly most romances aren't made for me anyway.
Yay!
I was looking forward to this review. I too saw it as a kid and liked it and while I haven't seen it since I was 9, I was wondering what exactly was so terrible about it. Thing is, even as a kid I hated the "deified child" genre of family movies but I don't remember thinking that about this one. What I do…
Personally, writings about music itself (and not the artist) aren't interesting unless I've heard it first, and writing alone doesn't usually move me to check out new stuff. What I do find interesting though are people's personal experiences with the music they love written in first person and a little more…
But you insult so well!
Nathan, with your writing style you could rip apart everything I hold dear in life and I'd still laugh uproariously at how your impeccable phrasing of it.
