I agree about her chemistry with Pertwee. I simply meant that she was a great companion but it was a shame that her presence hurt UNIT's credibility, which wouldn't have been an issue at any other time in the show's run. And, plausible or not, one line in one episode doesn't make up for something that consistently

I don't know, I enjoyed Liz's rapport with the Doctor. His condescension was justified (from his perspective) because a pea-brained human could never possibly keep up with him scientifically. Yet it was also mixed with a grudging respect because she really was an excellent scientist and consummate professional.

Jo would've been a better companion in any other era of the show. She's utterly charming but she never comes off as a professional and, despite the throwaway lampshade about her getting the job through her rich uncle, it's just not plausible that UNIT would have her on staff. Of course, that was just one of the many

Interesting casting note: the bearded submarine captain in this serial would later go on to play Maester Luwin in Game of Thrones.

NIN as a duo with Trent Reznor and really talented lyricist/vocalist would be the best band in history.

You're a better person than me. I can't remember the last time I felt so little pity for someone.

I thought that too. Especially since the girl was doing a phallic suggestive thing with the drink and the straw. I thought it was meant to tie to that and undercut it.

I just checked Wikipedia, and it seems that the very existence of electromagnetic hypersensitivity is dubious. So I think you may be onto something.

Yeah I think people are letting the strong impression given by late-stage Heisenberg drown out the earlier portrayal of Walt. He had plenty of humanity and was very conflicted.

I always thought that line was "I will be alone again tonight with you." I actually thought the song was a little too sappy. Apparently I missed a major cynical undercurrent. I'm going to have to revisit it.

I actually think that side one of Da Capo was the best thing Love ever did. It's a shame side 2 was just one long unremarkable jam.

Correct. A transwoman who dates women is a lesbian.

This tactic continues to form the foundation of American politics.

Well, unless Bruce Jenner has also switched his sexual orientation and started dating men, Guy Incognito II is correct.

Yeah, it's strange (and cool) how much things have changed in the not-all-that-long time since this episode. In the 90s, homophobia, at least at a low level, was pretty much an assumed trait of a broad range of characters, none more so than Dads. Really, if Homer was accepting of gay people that would have been a

Those three (including Homer's Phobia) are prime examples of episodes that work well on their own merits, but ended up pulling the show in a direction that would become terrible. The Frank Grimes episode in particular marked a huge shift in the characterization of Homer and a move toward a much more meta tone that

I always assumed they just had the programmers do the voices.

If TVCC is on the way out they really need to get to the first four seasons of the Wire. Did I miss some explanation for why those never got covered? Because they seem like they'd be the first thing TVCC would hit.

I love em too, but I have been repeatedly shocked by how little some people are able to look past shoestring effects or outlandish-in-a-dated-way costumes.

I'm no expert, but I think the price of stop-motion animation fell quite a bit between the 70s and 2005.
