I thought that scene was HOT maybe the hottest this show has ever done.  Hayley is always portrayed as somebody touch and confident and her telling Klaus to take control was really sexy.

I didn't think it was really meant to imply a romance between Stefan and Caroline.  We know Caroline has feelings for both Tyler and Klaus and Stefan has feelings for Elena and sorta Rebekah…it would just be too much to think they'd also be into eachother.

I don't think the Hayley stuff felt dropped out of nowhere, there have been several scenes throughout the season about her trying to find her parents and often agreeing to do stupid things in order to do so.  It makes sense that Klaus would know about a werewolf clan.
