I saw it on home video when I was a child and so had a lot of my friends.
Film adaptations of novels are never perfect, but I thought they got the tone right. Giamatti is terrific of course .

I've taken to watching episodes of Phineas and Ferb as well as Sarah and Duck when I want a short break from grown up stuff. Both terrific fun, although for very different reasons.
They are good fun. Check out the film version of John Dies at the End. Not a bad adaptation.
