Flintlocks - yes, that gets to the essence of what I worry about with any period piece. If they start messing things up like this I get too annoyed and the show begins to lose me.

Good point as to the disconnect of the tech industry from the world in general. There have been some examples of this from the real world that I always thought were straight out of the imaginings of a satirist like Mike Judge (i.e. Samsung pitching "the next big thing" as a "smart watch" that the guy in the commercial…
I can't really put my finger on exactly why, but I have always just LOVED Agent Frank Gaad. He always seemed like a slightly "off" guy being functional and successful in a very by-the-book world. Seems like the mark of a good show/writer/actor - take a bit player and imbue him with personality even in relatively…
Better "WORLD STAR!"
But at that, he would have probably had vivid childhood memories of the Great Patriotic War. Which is to this day a major cultural touchstone over there. (They sort of allude to this dynamic in one Claudia's scenes last season.)
If they really had wanted to use the Port of Baltimore for the exfil, I imagine that a young Frank Sobotka would have needed to have a few "numbers" slipped his way at some point.
My hopes for this show would be for uber-drip Rick to be eaten and the blonde army dude to take over as the ostensible "hero."
TRS-80 AKA "Trash-80"
Intellivision - "Intelligent television!" Love it!
Building the character, I think. A girl who was wounded/hurt by the "macho" guy would appeal even more to a lad like Brad. Sort of builds into why a girl would finally go for him rather than a SEAL type. Gets him excited - finally not going to lose out to the jock/muscle guy, etc.
Totally love this show, but it does feel like they are starting to go through the motions a little bit.
I saw this grade before being able to watch and for a moment was legit worried - was this episode going to turn out to be wank?
"Does AMC think sufficient exposure to Chris Hardwick will eventually get me to stop hating him?"
This all damned day long. And bonus points for making the heads of 100% of the AV Club's review staff explode with its depiction of a WHITE MALE ANTIHERO.
He does have "an arm like a missile", "a cock like a python", and the "mind of a scientist" if I remember correctly from one of his voiceovers.
Not that I'm complaining in re: Rosita, but THIS struck me as odd:
And, to that one could add: "I don't want to criticise this wonderful show because people will think I'm a misogynist."
If I had to list "things that make me stop watching a show," having a character who is generally portrayed as little Miss junior sociopath smother a baby wouldn't be it. Wouldn't that be kind of consistent with the character? And, also would seem to be a more interesting plot device than "people lugging around a…
Well the most important point in depicting any group of friends on a TV show is that they are suitably "diverse."
I imagine that this was an "A" episode downgraded to C+ per AV Club standard scoring conventions ("about white male = not good because of Breaking Bad or something") but then upgraded to "B" because of sufficiently acceptable amount of diversity amongst the four primary detectives depicted. (The two modern ones being…
