Reck hit it. When I said his "stories and prose are blah" I meant to say "plotting and prose." Sitting around and talking about Asimov's stories with others who have read them, you can see the brilliance, but man, reading them is such a chore.

Friends and took turns reading aloud Dianetics at all-night diners when we were like 17 or 18 . That book is fuckin' funny. No one does satire like L. Ron. I read a bunch of his sci-fi as an early teen, and it's all tongue-in-cheek. Dianetics read the exact same way, for me. I'm convinced he meant it as a joke.

I've read the foundation series. Or, rather, I got through a couple of them. There is no way any movie could possibly be worse than those books already are. Azimov is a terrible writer.
