But that's just it. That was a complete break of character for JD, at least to me. Maybe it was the two times before that, but their relationship just became grating and unrealistic.

That's probably its greatest strength. Episodes like My Cake and My Old Lady were great for that brilliant juxtaposition between humor and the impact of death. If only they had avoided the caricature that several characters and plot devices became, it may have been a far better show.

"Up" looks hard to pass on, if only for the pedigree of Pixar. Star Trek could be good, and I'll probably see it regardless. But other than that, none of these are sure-fire sees for me.
