If I recall correctly, Dan Harmon said this on his podcast. I believe that he also specifically said that he knew it would be received poorly, but that he uses his podcast to get through some stuff, and people should make sure to take these things as his ramblings, not any actual pronouncements on things.

@avclub-011d0b4fe6835bb3d37ef4e0ea713de6:disqus , I think that's why I don't like it… because it doesn't match the style she's going for. If she doubled down on it and went full Swinton, it would be much more interesting.

@LiberalCollegeFreshman:disqus , I really enjoyed Kesha's track on the Dylan tribute disc.

"Nah, she's the "spirit animal" of some idea of the average 20-year-old born of her isolation from any of us actual 20-year-olds."

@avclub-61938d93498e7f0ed5e6527b1cee656a:disqus , I care why?

I agree with everything you've said here.  I also generally find that backloaded nights are stronger, as the sketches usually feature the writers unleashing their full weird.

I thought she was flat throughout the entire "We Can't Stop" performance, but I definitely could be wrong, because holy crap was that guitar arrangement a monstrosity.

I felt like both of them - but her in particular - were leaning heavily on international news. As a non-American, this is something I would like to see continue.

Whoever did her Bachmann costuming and makeup should do her future video work, because she managed looked both aesthetically interesting and provocatively sexual in that video. In contrast with the original "We Can't Stop Video" it really showed how bland and uninspired the whole "white everything" look is.

@avclub-78e2ae8001114d996130d05c2e7f0ecb:disqus , I sure hope she hasn't.  Considering that what she does isn't anywhere more sexual than what dozens of other artists are doing, it would seem like considering her as any sort of groundbreaking figure means that all the other highly sexual female artists before her must

Say what you will about the rest of the show, but that last sketch was Stella-levels of awesome.

@olivececile:disqus , the country of Korea is either called "South Korea" or "The Republic of Korea" though. "Korea" always refers to the entire thing.

@avclub-bdd1b613ee6fcac7694cf648430358ce:disqus , as long as Shang Chi is actually Chinese, Iron Fist can be whatever he wants.  Danny as a rich white male American at the head of a multinational corporation is also someone with a deep respect for Chinese culture—possibly far more subversive to middle America than

You think that the Pope has the ability to overturn centuries of bureacratic tradition by himself because why? What he's doing now is already radical enough that he's risking a Pope John style assassination attempt. I'm not sure how you get "evil yet affable old man" from a person who has made actual moves away from

Are you talking about every President of the United States of America for the last all of its existence or..?

Huh…  Yeah I find that shocking too. I watch it because I love the comedy, and I assumed that everyone else did too, with fantasy football just being a bonus for those who liked that kind of stuff.

Whut. Kiss Land is friggen great.  "Pretty" is just a sublime track all over.

Not really, considering how Drake constantly reps the city.

@avclub-a1967e6de4ca99fb2635d94b99453928:disqus , I sort of love the name Better Off Ted now. Because you know what?  We are better off Ted.  All of us.

Akerman has proved that she can do a funny voiceover, so that problem is all in the script. Burn it with fire!
