You do get that the whole reason this is considered a big deal is because the nations which have been stolen from consider the loss of their heritage to be a human rights violation? Again, any time you argue that this is an alienable human right, you're weakening the argument for repatriation.

No. The right to possession of one's own cultural heritage is an inalienable human right, and thus exists independently of contextual factors. If Egypt has the right to preserve its cultural heritage, then so does Britain.

The sneering annoys me.  I basically like Dowd's reviews, even if I don't agree with 'em, but the sneering tone they're inflicted with is pretty grating.

So…  It turns out that Drake had a pretty crazy array of people show up to play his OVO Fest performance:

I'd say the dumbing down is equally directed at domestic and international audiences. Lest we forget that Grown Ups 2 was squarely aimed at North American audiences, which loved it.

And yet Americans aren't alleging that movies like Transformers are  "dumbed down for international audiences", despite their plots being completely half-assed. Why?  Because movies like that have a shit-ton of flag-waving in them.

I love how anything in which the United States isn't portrayed as the world's SuperSaviour is considered "dumbing down."
