To be fair, there's a difference between a story that's simply a rehash of a genre, and a story that's deliberately pushing all the cliches of a genre up to 11. Pacific Rim did that last one rather brilliantly.

Wow, that sure is a lot of angry assertions.
As I was watching that, I was floored by just how great his delivery was. Even the weaker jokes he made landed simply due to how well he sold them.
Definitely a major Veridian Dynamics vibe.
I hope that this has set the stage for Yukio's character to come back for a classic Logan + Young Woman buddy story. Wolverine stories work great when he has a young female foil (Kitty Pryde, Rogue, Jubilee, etc).
I might be getting a masters degree in conflict studies next year, which is ostensibly about international politics, but could just as easily be about sex.
Goddammit, this show sounds absolutely fantastic in a universe where it isn't being helmed by Ryan Murphy.

Speaking of Whose Line and TVD, I quite enjoyed Candice Accola's performance on it. She was very game for everything – except the idea of Colin milking her – and put in a pretty enthusiastic performance. I'd rank her as the best guest they've had so far, with Lauren Cohan's silent performance in last.
Reign is a remake of actual history!

Vish Khanna is writing for the AV Club now? Nice! The AV Club could use a little wrath.

It turns out that we all had chlamydia THE ENTIRE TIME.
WTF? The Borgias was quality TV since the beginning of season 2.
They also did London, and TSN is sub-licensing some of the 2014 rights.
Does NBC have the Olympic rights in perpetuity or something? For a while, CTV and CBC were in pretty significant competition over the Canadian rights, and each tried to sell the IOC on just how high-quality their coverage would be.
I was listening to Q on CBC today; they were talking about misogyny in music, but it applies here too.
This sucks, but he's awesome.
