I feel like Abed right now…  Because I have no idea what my emotional response to this should be.

Seriously? Martin Short was going to be a regular and you passed!?

Nobody knows.  He's like a really dirty bowtie that's been around NBC's neck forever: You want to take it off to wash it, but you also wonder if removing it will cause NBC's head fall off.

@facebook-100005208610485:disqus , nobody is forgetting that.  1) Vampires are constantly shown as being able to detect sneak attacks, except when suddenly they're not. So we're still looking at a nerfing of that ability.2) As mentioned, previous events have shown these characters as able to fight before being wounded

Yeah, I'll agree with @avclub-7cbdf9bce9a6ebda0988f7c45702c176:disqus  here.  That looks great.  Would've liked to see a multi-episode war between the dead and the living, but this is pretty good too.

It definitely isn't the charming story that she maybe thinks it is…

If this was her storytelling potential, well… yikes.  I remember back when she was amazed at her ability to twirl leaves.  Such an innocent and hopeful time!

In case anyone was wondering how the heck a full writer's room thought that "Magical Miracle Baby" was a good plotline to launch The Originals with, it turns out that they didn't!

One of the reasons the ease at which Silas was taken down is problematic… is because Silas had – just – had a "you didn't think it would be that easy did you?  I'm in your head bitch!" moment.  His threat level increased and then flat-lined within minutes.

On another point, which I'm sure I'll repeat elsewhere:

I'm more interested in the rise of Saturdays.  Is BBC America going to be the spearhead that makes it a programmable night again?  How is SNL going to do on a night with more TV, even if it isn't all head-to-head competition?

Whatever the initial reception of The Doctor's Wife, time has been very kind to its current reputation; "written by the guy who wrote The Doctor's Wife could be a promotional tagline by itself.

Yikes.

Everything you've just said I agree with. This is what happens when writers become too attached to their ideas.

Last week, I commented that if the show kept being inconsistent with power levels, they would become meaningless. I'm pretty sure this was the week they became meaningless.

Well… that was a series of mostly arbitrary events.

You better keep your grubby hands off of Elisha Cuthbert 24, she's comedy's mistress now.

Meh.

Vampire stories where crosses/religion have some sort of actual significance are usually better than those that don't.

It's because anticipation -> payoff leads to story catharsis better than  nothing -> payoff does.
