There was at least one episode where they say he has a fortune in his bank from some inheritance.

It's too understated for a win, but not too understated for a nomination, if that's what you were confused about.

@avclub-a071490b596e0cc770ff10b7eb5b2e85:disqus I think the problem is the people who are annoyed by the joke just collapse the threads in which people are making Dawes jokes, so when someone complains about all the Dawes jokes only people who make them see it and thus complain.

@avclub-52ed1f89cb6f846e8efba0e4eacf9c27:disqus  what were your problems with the commenting system? I didn't quite understand you above.

Jesus Christ you're an unpleasant human being.

It was way, way, shorter than any of the For Your Considerations, however, and it may have even happened before those even were a thing. Plus, if I remember right, it was a really slow news day.

Was there ever any proof it was a sell-out, or was it just everybody assumed it was?

Hasn't Toby been writing his novels since before then? At the very least since when Sabre was in charge.

Michael's hatred of Toby was best when without point, and I'm glad they never explained it as some sort of "he once ate my lunch from the fridge" shit.

That may be a Farscape reference. Or they made the same joke.

It's hard to get mad at them, it's not like any of us have not made some lazy, lazy jokes in our time. But it's so goddamn dumb.

@avclub-7aee1b75b527e215f31e20a5c4e7a768:disqus , seriously, how much TV do you watch in a given week?

Is Ellen known for being big and exaggerated? (This isn't sarcastic, maybe she is, I just don't know.)

As soon as I read that dig at Japan I did a ctrl+F for "mohad" and was disappointed. WHERE IS HE/(SHE?)

If I remember right (Exporting Raymond is the movie) one specific woman tried to make the wife more traditionally sexy, but it wasn't a cultural thing.

I liked that they acknowledged that Carrie was a horrible person and reguarly had episodes about her pissing people off by being so unpleasant, unlike Debra from Everybody Loves Raymond, who everybody loved despite being a jerk.

I think he was just generically crazy in whatever way the joke required him to be. Like how Kramer goes from incredibly rich to completely poor depending on the joke.

Couldn't he or she just write it

What Mojo Filter said. You said it like a real asshole, and especially Bruiser Brody. "frighten the herd"? There is no reason to say that except to piss off everyone who disagrees with you.

saying someone isn't "a convincing actor or a funny comic" isn't an opinion, it's a statement of fact. Or at least, it's an opinion phrased as a statement of fact.
