Had a bought of insomnia last night, and ended up catching "Boxcar Bertha". Kind of awesome. Just wanted to thank you for turning me on to the quirky charms of late-night TCM. Otherwise, I probably would've just watched HDNet - but only because I'm emotionly invested in 'Bikini Barbershop'.
Maybe it's just because I'm old, but I don't trust the pirating sites (viruses/prosecution). I also don't want to pay for premium cable. So I've just resigned myself to waiting until the dvd's are on netflix next year. I really don't mind the waiting. However, it's hard not to click on the weekly recaps just to…
My wife is a good sport and patiently watches the nerd movies I like, but she really liked the Avengers. It just carried itself with such a great sense of humor throughout.
It was really low budget. Most of the "animation" was photos of the girl making different faces. And the message was that the downside of drugs was that you don't appreciate how great the world is and you might not feel great later (I was expecting more of a doomsday scenario).
Thanks for the heads up on "Freaked". It's been years since I saw it, and it was the complete cartoony nonsense that I needed this morning.
"Endless Mike…balls Ellen" would have been a great episode.
Willie Nelson. I guess I was a typical teen and dismissed him when first recommended by a friend ("bleh - country sux"). Fortunately, my friend was insistent, and 'Shotgun Willie', 'Phases & Stages', and 'Red Headed Stranger' are still in my regular rotation.

Let's limit the debate to items that actually matter! Which is the better Farley?
Tree Trunks is going to be SHOCKED by his corkscrew pecker!
Agree about "Raging Bull". Definitely falls into the category of 'Movies I love but rarely watch'.
I didn't really see anything new except Mad Men, which was awesome. I watched Patton Oswalt's "Finest Hour" special, parts of "Last Waltz", a couple of Deadwoods, and a couple of MST3Ks, including the Home Ec short that includes my single favorite line:
Middle of the road, man it stanks,
Let's run over Lionel Richie with a tank.
I've really enjoyed this season, and trust Garcia to wrap up with something satisfyingly bizarre and heart-warming.

Loved your post. I was where you are about 4 years ago. I spent 10 years trying to follow my dream and starved. At 30, I went back for the engineering degree 'cause math and technical writing come easy. Now I work the 9-to-5, and me and all my friends are busy with kids and shit. This site is a fucking godsend. …
Don't get me wrong - totally love Louise Cooper. I think Paradox was her first, and it seems like it's going for something deep with its Tarot card metaphors. I love it, but not sure if many others would.
I haven't read any others by him. I think I found this at a used book store? I'll have to track done Witchblood.
