If Tony's chosen profession of "mafia boss" is a window on his behavior, it's fair to say Hannah's chosen profession of "personal essayist" is as much of a window.

Look - I am not a fan of Sarah Palin by any means, but I just remember those first moments/hours/days after her big "pitbull with lipstick" speech at the convention - and how frothy liberals got. I remember being on message boards, and people were positively nuts - before they knew anything about Sarah Palin, before…

Why is Betty a terrible mother? I don't see it. I certainly think Don has his moments of good fatherhood especially with Sally - when he's actually around. I never see him with the other two kids. But surely his absence is worse than Betty's flubbed attemtps?

Does the backlash against Lena Dunham and GIRLS remind anyone of the initial backlash against Sarah Palin - 4 years ago? Is there just something about women not meeting societal expectations that sends us into a foaming-at-the-mouth tizzy? I dunno…there's something vaguely familiar about it though…

Agreed - January Jones is the perfectly cast as Betty Draper (as Matthew Weiner intended) - though erm, not for much else it seems.

Hahahah - I agree. Assholes make you feel bad - and who wants to feel bad while trying to "escape?" A masochist - that's who. However, I enjoy assholes, as long as it's not directed at me personally - so I like the show. :-)

Excellent point about low stakes. Although I have enjoyed much of the season, I also wonder where exactly it's going story-wise. It's certainly not action driven - that's for sure. But maybe that get backs to Todd's initial point about "masculine expectations." As viewers, we expect high stakes, action driven drama -…

You sound like Jordan Chase from Dexter's season 5.

If Hannah were a rapist, I think you would have a point.
