Chainsaw and Dave rule!
It's fitting that you referenced Kolchak here. You could tell The Night Stalker, great as it had been, was running out of steam only one season in when it had Kolchak chasing a giant lizard-man through a basement.
I love Supernatural, but it's running on fumes now.
As for something supernatural that's still got it —…
Lucio Fulci would make sure they wouldn't live happily on that ship.
I was never a huge fan of Tennessee Tuxedo, but the theme song remains one of my all-time favorites.
And I'm glad to see that Chumley has gone on to better things with Pawn Stars.
I'm glad to see The Butcher Boy made the list. Instead of the Barrytown trilogy, I think Roddy Doyle would have been better represented by Paddy Clarke Ha Ha Ha, The Woman Who Walked Into Doors and A Star Called Henry. If you really want to present a "sobering depiction" of Irish life.
That's the one with nekkid Valerie Perrine, isn't it?
Someday soon, all four of these geezers are due for an electric funeral.
That was my first reaction: "Wahlberg?!" Only I thought it was Marky Mark.
Keep Daryl, Rick, Glenn and Maggie.
Kill off everyone else, including the writers.
Make sure Maggie gets at least one nude scene per episode.
All problems solved.
"It is still hard to believe that the show is committed to churning out mediocrities like this for another two years."
Screw the butterball turkey. Feels like an Arby's night.
Saint Jack and They All Laughed, to me, were the apex of his career. Two great performances in two good Bogdanovich films.
Larry David needs to add Marla Gibbs to the cast of Curb as Wanda's mom. They could double up on Larry and cut him down to size each week. "Hey, assy-ass." That would be hilarious.
Big Trouble was a pretty funny read and a pretty funny movie as well. Kind of Leonard Elmore lite. Check it out.
When it comes to Bunuel, Viridiana is divine. Los Ovidados too … I tend to favor his B&W films over the later color ones.
"Johannesburg" remains a great song.
Also, I think GSH's dad was the first American to play in the Scottish Premier League.
I admit, I used to confuse James Farentino and James Franciscus when I was younger.
Check out the Night Gallery episode about the wife's witchy aunt, though. It's pretty good.
Actually, you could say that about most of Night Gallery. I've always preferred it over Twilight Zone. Maybe it could become part of the TV Club…
Superstars was OK, But a TV highlight of my formative years was Battle of the Network Stars. Watching someone like Adrienne Barbeau running braless in a T-shirt or watching Robert Conrad boil over after being beaten in a foot race by Gabe Kaplan was so much more entertaining than watching Joe Frazier drown.
My god, Dolly Parton is firmly in Cher/Kenny Rogers territory when it comes to the plastique.
