We Talkin' Ladyparts

"Werner Herzog Thinks Life Stinks!"

I think I had no idea what a "night cap" was. Maybe I knew it was a drink, and assumed that people would go back to a state room, have a drink and some conversation, then go back to their own cabin for a good night's sleep.

I'm rather surprised I don't remember this episode. It seems more memorable than many of the others, what with the "away team" as someone called it in an earlier comment.

… and like many shows, there was little to nothing in the way of distracting character development or story arcs from episode to episode. As soon as you met one of the regulars, you knew what they would be like from then on.

Yeah, I watched both as well. I probably stopped when I started realizing how often Toni Tenille had showed up on one or the other show. I think I was done before Mr. Roarke really got into his Satan-battling phase. I remember hearing about it, but I don't remember actually seeing it.

Pastors oversee congregations, and duties like counseling, visiting the sick, etc. would be considered part of a pastor's jobs. I suppose the article was about why the role of a televangelist would conflict with that of a pastor.

Just like iHawk, the O'Neal bot has an "irreverent/maudlin" toggle switch.

NAZI SOCIALIST MUSLIM PRESIDENT THANK YOU

This ain't no mud club or CBGB

Not trying to be combative, but curious: I know that's true today. Was it true in 1963 when Wild Things came out? I get the impression that the librarian as guardian of freedom is a new-ish concept. Weren't they often seen as custodians of culture, protecting knowledge from the rabble?

Do you want the mustache on or off?

Yes to all of that. Many shows of the 70s used Southern California as a stand-in for someplace else or tried to make it look like the most glamorous place ever. I've always thought that Rockford was one of the few shows that actually tried to show SoCal (don't call it that) as it was. Living betwixt the Mississippi

I was born in 1969 (69.. heheheheh). Yet, I never watched a single Police Academy movie in its entirety until last year. Was this because I had such good taste in my youth that I eschewed the movies? No, it was because I had no friends, and therefore didn't get invited to see all the stupid movies that everyone else

I've never watched much Magnum, but Rockford doesn't have a "Robin Masters equivalent"; Rockford has to scrounge for what he has. That gives the character a certain world-weary not-quite-desperation. Maybe you'd like the contrast…?

Somewhere, I have read that some Rockford Files episodes were just rewrites of Maverick episodes. So I think Rockford has quite a bit of Maverick in him as well.

But will he ever rest?

Not to flog a dead horse… but the doors cannot open on their own to reveal an empty shaft. The operator motor is on the cab, not on the hall doors. All the stories you read about people falling down shafts where there wasn't an elevator involve people who somehow forced the doors open (sometimes unintentionally), or
