Agreed about the Nick/Renard/J-Filler/Monroe stuff. The show's still making mistakes that the writers should've learned to avoid by watching, say, every single piece of bad melodrama on TV for the past 40 years. It would've been easy for them to go a different route and have Nick and Monroe's reactions be more

I'm actually willing to let the smell test go for now, for any number of reasons. But there's really no reason that Monroe shouldn't have immediately known that it was Nick's boss because of his eyeballs and his brain.

The supernatural version of Judge Judy never would've sided with hallucination Connor. Self-defense and defense of others is universally recognized as an inalienable right that can even transcend the social contract! Connor proved himself to be a relentless threat to the safety of others, even mortals! Elena, you're

Thea's the kind of person you meet at certain dismal dull affairs: center of a crowd, talking much too loud, running up and down the stairs.

George is the captain. I just don't want him to be completely alone out there, because either he goes crazy by himself and that's lame, or he immediately rolls over and that's not very much fun either. Because Alex does kind of suck in some ways.

Was it just my copy of the show, or was the musical background all over the place tonight? It was too loud in spots, to the point of overshadowing the dialogue, and it kicked in at weird times as well (and also sometimes too loudly.)

Solid episode. Laurel, non-stunt-ab-sexy Oliver, and Thea all still have their rough spots - and Laurel's coworker is terrible solely because she's stuck always cajoling Laurel, which is more of a Laurel-centric problem - but there's progress being made on most fronts. I agree with both the reviewer and the bulk of

Brody got broken early. There's room in the timeline for plenty of celebrity reverse makeover action.

That's the whole point. The show is offering us a character study of a man without any rigorously considered principles - just an incredibly rough and raw sense of injustice plus a whole bunch of emotions and liabilities that can be manipulated by anyone with half a brain and a little power.
