No one outside the US thinks this. Most of the world see us as the biggest threat to world peace. Something about starting wars all the time and having 700 military bases all over the world. I really don't see the problem.

the NBA playoffs are a win-win. Either Golden St loses and their insane super team with Durant looks like a bust (somehow) or LeBron loses a Finals again and that makes all the "He's the GOAT" commentators look even stupider. Plus, probably some great basketball in there.

if you don't watch the entirely of season 2 you miss out on a lot of the mythology of the White Lodge, etc. People crap on season 2 but it's actually a lot of fun.

just taking issue with calling it free. Those Federal Taxes pay for the healthcare (they subsidize provincial healthcare programs like OHIP, etc). It's much cheaper than in the US, but free is a stretch.

the tone is off but it might still be a fun movie. The original was about a future in decline and it's chickens coming home to roost. The replicants were just examples of us not living up to our ideals and having to pay the price. All the accomplishments meant nothing. I really hope the new movie has Phillip K Dick's…

I also liked the way the old and the new were mixed in the movie. There was advanced tech in replicants, but also low tech on the ground, strip clubs, pianos, old music, old buildings decaying. For a Sci -Fi movie in the future it had a lot of the past in it. It was the first dystopian Sci-fi I can think of.
