@avclub-72a8ab4748d4707fda159db0088d85de:disqus, Liz's suggestion is just aces.  We actually did something similar where we took copious notes on the houses we liked and then later compared it to our deal breaker list.  I then put that all onto a dossier with a picture of the house and a link to the Maris/Zillow site.

@avclub-2ac233bc53744593f485e5752aaa692a:disqus, thank you.  I'll keep that in mind and mention it to my wife.  She loves gardening and has a green thumb, so we might have to put up some raised gardens for herbs or at least a compost pile for next year.

Thank you!

I hear you.  When you're on an income that's flexible, buying a property/house like that can be incredibly scary.

Thank you!

@avclub-72a8ab4748d4707fda159db0088d85de:disqus, yes definitely do that.  We eventually went with a local bank with a very low origination fee and the same rate as everyone else.  They resell it.  Apparently the vast majority of them do.  Even the credit union we checked with does.

The honorable Judge is correct.  We actually put an offer in on a house before this one.  We were, unfortunately, dealing with a relocation company that was representing the owners.  The initial price they asked for was ridiculous anyway ($195K), because the house had been gutted and rehabbed in 2010, and then bought

@avclub-6a2ec3076bb494e5c64eb1a422d9fe3d:disqus, actually, we're in the Midwest.  Missouri specifically, which might help explain some of the age (old trading post).

@avclub-8dd007f4a97be79c135c67999bf5b27e:disqus Wow, that's really good advice.  Thank you (and thank your friend for me)!  I'll definitely do that.  We scheduled our closing 45 days out and our apartment requires 60 days notice before vacating, so I'll have about two weeks to really clean the place, check it out, and

What he/she said.  Definitely stick to your budget.  Everyone is always pushing you to go higher (even your own agent; they're trying to make their commission, too).  Stay where you need to, financially.

Thank you!

Nice about getting pre-approved, but I'm gonna say don't go with the heroin guy.  But if it's between him and meth guy, go with heroin guy.  He's bound to be less territorial. *glances over @Heisenberg:disqus's way*

You are correct.  And we're expecting to be somewhat poor.  The good thing is that my wife and I are both pretty frugal.  And having been frugal before we met each other, we actually have a decent amount saved up to put on the down payment.

Thank you!

Yes!  We actually did all the inspections last Thursday (apart from the radon test, which takes two days), and it was mostly okay.

I bought a house thread.

Sounds like it's getting extra busy as he didn't have as much time to spend on this week's featured alcohol.  As usual, here is this week's episode's featured drink, as supplied by Archer animator Domirillo over at reddit.

Balls.
