I'm totally with you on Silence of the Lambs. A confession: I haven't actually seen the rest of them.

The first ten episodes of Avatar are a little on the childish side. However, once it hits its stride, it's seriously one of the best shows ever made. I'm trying really hard not to tell you what a bad opinion that is (since the makers of the show have no control over how it's marketed), so please go watch it before I

How recent is your mac? Mine is a 2011 mac book pro, and I got a pretty cheap mini display port to hdmi cable that works excellently for both audio and video: http://www.amazon.com/Mini-…

I read The City And The City a while ago, and I felt similarly. I liked Embassytown a great deal more, and I have expectations that Perdido Street Station will be as good as that (from recommendations). He really does love his bustling, diverse cities.

Read Juliet, by Andras Vinsky, and started Perdido Street Station. Juliet wrecked me.

Um, not really at all. ATLA is American animation, and while it has anime influences, you would have to generalize the category of anime beyond actual content in order to describe ATLA as anime.

Well, I would agree that it captured part of why AT is great, but I think by focusing solely on nostalgia, and not on the greater idea of simultaneous conflicting emotions, the dude really limited the scope of his thesis, undercutting how effective it was (for me). I don't really enjoy nostalgia that much; instead I

Agreed on Embassytown. I've read Perdido Street Station, The Scar, and The City & The City, and Embassytown is by far my favorite. I felt like it was tighter, and that I believed in/cared more about the protagonist than in the rest. Also, to some extent, I felt like Mieville's "playing with concepts" was in fine form

Ughh. More of Sorkin's blonde female Republicans? I can't wait till she spouts a straw-man argument that some intelligent liberal (white) dude will take apart in a second, while simultaneously referencing Gilbert and Sullivan and using the phrase "neither here nor there."

I think by describing Buffy as a show for preteen girls, you've just outed yourself as a person with bad opinions. Love it or hate it, Buffy was a show embraced by adults of all ages.

Ahem.
