They are not the hell your whales.
They are not the hell your whales.
Good ST movie but best time travel movie? Nah. Voyage Home wasn't even the best time travel story Star Trek ever did. "City on the Edge of Forever" wins that one.

I liked this comment entirely because I know what Ouroboros means and that makes me feel smart.
On giving up drugs/alcohol:" Why? Why must I be conscious for the horror?"
We live in an era when any and every law can be ignored and citizens can without trial, evidence presented, or even formal charges be imprisoned indefinitely, tortured, or killed on the say-so of the President or anyone he designates all in the name of National Security and The War On Terror. The fact that you guys…
El Chupacabra, et al was indeed hysterical. But the crowning moment in Benson's show and one of the funniest podcast I have ever heard (and I listen to quite a few) is the John Lithgow/Paul F. Tompkins/Jimmy Pardo episode.
And I will confess that watching the scene where Blake is talking to his wife on the phone while knowing that Blake was never going to actually see her again (or ever meet his new born child) always used to tear me up.
Though how narcissistic would you have to be to not see the difference between a protest against social inequality or political tyranny and not being able to send a text message/play a stupid game for an hour?
I found a great way to while away a flight delay when I'm in the no electronics zone. It's a rectangular object made up of several hundred small pieces of paper sandwiched between two pieces of board or heavier stock paper. The pieces of paper have writing on them and if you try really hard the writing will tell you…
Socialist.
I did, and liked it a lot. It seemed to strike a good balance between "with great power yada yada" philosophizing and "let's jump the batmobile off a roof! Wahoo!" I just felt TDK forgot it was a movie about a guy dressed as a bat to fight crime and thought it was "The Lives of Others."
Re: the relative smartness of British audiences
Who said anything about serious? I'm talking suspension of disbelief. It's far easier to suspend disbelief about a situation where everything is set in an unfamiliar world as long as the world building is done with skill (and world building is something Star Trek is really good at) than it is when an outlandish…
I have no plans to see this. I hated Dark Knight and nothing could persuade me to watch even 6 minutes of this one. About 20 minutes into the Dark Knight, the idea of a man dressed as a bat to fight crime suddenly seemed…..silly. God help me, I may finally be too old for this crap.
Never seen it but is convinced it is a smarmy piece of shit. Ladies and gentlemen, the internet.
MBR, there's a difference between limited and under used.
"Just give me my fucking phone call."
It would be completely out of place in a Michael Bay movie. You can tell what's happening to who in Troopers.
Seeped? It spurted! It jetted! A CASCADE of golden awesome!
