Maybe you're just getting old, Jimmy James
like me.  Yesterday I was marveling at the fact that I have a clear specific memory of the events surrounding a Christmas present purchase for my mother that took place almost 25 years ago, but if I hadn't written down a reminder that my boss gave to me in a meeting that just

Of course, Blargh.  I see your point.  Encouraging the people who make and release the stuff I like might only make them come up with more stuff I like.  Who could possibly want that?

Funny that the quote from ST II is an example of Shatner at his least hammy.

Hey, Derpmatic, where do you live?  I'm sure you have things in your house/apartment I would like to have.

My grandfather, after serving in Europe and closing out the Nazis, was in training to be part of the first wave of the invasion force of Japan.  Not many of those people were expected to live through the whole thing.  Without the bombing of Hiroshima, I wouldn't exist.

I definitely know who these people are.  Its the various silicone based life forms on the Real Housewives series I can't keep straight.

He is strangely attractive yet it wouldn't surprise me to find that he has several bodies buried in his crawl space.

Are we not nem? We are Oved!

Doesn't the phrase "the rest of the 6.7 billion humans" imply the portion of 6.7 billion humans that aren't American (which is how I bet 3rd prize understood it) while the phrase " the OTHER 6.7 billion humans" would imply the portion of the world's 7 billion population that aren't Americans?

All this shit gets solved as soon as Elvis steps in.

Or a faster typist.

It's not enough that it is ugly and disgusting and "fucked up?"  It actually matters in what philosophical/gender political/whatever that disgust is based?  Really?

I think the thing that bugs me about the "Munich" sex scene wasn't that it was overwrought. Spielberg is frequently overwrought anyway and I've always been able to take it in stride as Spielberg being Spielberg.  In this movie it just doesn't seem to fit as the rest of the movie is fairly understated for a thriller.

I'm with you.  What I love about Shakespeare's writing is just that—the writing. "Shakespeare" turning out to be Queen Elizabeth herself, while undeniably pretty cool, wouldn't change the words one bit.

Or you could admit that a little creative license can lead to an interpretation of your post that is diametrically opposed to what you meant. And that like me you don't have anything better (or at least more fun) to do than squabble pointlessly on the internet.

For sure there's an element of wonder that gets lost when you can't watch it happen.

"Spielberg?  Please. "
Let's start with a dismissive tone setting the stage for everything that follows.

"But this is the man who ran shit for almost twenty years."

Scott, I liked your point about film being a tactile thing you could touch and handle and understand it completely.  But being an engineer/tech nerd I have to point out that video need the same persistence of vision phenomena to work that film does.  Both mediums are still images projected really fast.

{Mass entertainment=shit} means {UMD = pompous ass}

"The Fly" is my favorite horror movie of all time because it is both horrifying and truly tragic.  I've never seen another movie pull that off.
