I was thinking of that myself, but given how dusty the jar became, it's likely that Todd's going to wipe it down if he keeps it.  The type of jar itself could be a red flag if law enforcement sees that the kid had a bunch of those types of jars with various insects (and arachnids, for you pedants) and then they see

But he didn't need connections to get the machine gun, just a connection — the guy who sold him the snub-nose in Season 4.  And as pricey as the machine gun probably was, it probably didn't cost him hundreds of thousands of dollars, so he could be in exile with a fraction of the money he made, even in the post-Fring

(I would actually bet, knowing Walt, that he insisted they pay him something and that the other two scrounged together $5000 which was as much as they could afford, which he demanded in order to try to ruin the company.)

So you're harshing on the guy for showing some originality?  "Screw it, I'll blame Taylor Swift for my DUI" is inspired lunacy.  Give the man a golf clap, for fuck's sake.

Shovels?  Good thing Patton Oswalt wasn't there, or it'd be his mugshot we'd be looking at.

I think that the spider is going to be like the eyeball that Walt fishes out of his pool:  a mute metaphorical witness to past misdeeds.  Jesse will have that sucker in a terrarium in no time.

I don't think irritating necessity is right:  the fact that everything happens nearly perfectly with the heist itself (with the exception of the minor Prison Break-esque hitch of the Good Samaritan) is a setup for the gut-punch of the witness that none of them notice until later.  Plot-wise, it's ridiculous, but

@eric827:disqus, that was my take as well.  If Gus had given the order, it would have been a cleaner kill.

E. A potential replacement for Jesse, who becomes unhinged after the kid's death.  Walt prefers him to Jesse, as Todd might be cheaper and definitely can't replace Walt, at least not right away.

Fits with the the rest of the season though:  Walt's ego and self-assurance have gotten out of control.  He barely escapes the magnet caper, and tells Mike it worked because he said it did.  He successfully makes Skyler the bad guy in his conversation with Hank.  He comes up with the ideal moving meth cook lab.
