I asked about the shocking lack of Sudeikis last night on the A Special Thing forums.  They thought Sudeikis was returning for a half-year, perhaps to do Romney.  If that was his last episode and there weren't any mitigating outside factors, that would have been appallingly disrespectful to him.

They'll need to double the length of this video after tonight's excellent "Digital Estate Planning" episode.

There She Goes, My Beautiful World would be my choice for favorite song by any artist.  I don't reserve it for when i'm angry.  As Todd mentions, it's tremendous for getting oneself pumped up, whether for exercise or before a sales call, if you're Dwight Schrute.

The casting for Virginia was perfect.  Those babies nailed the supercilious facial expressions for someone on one of those reality shows (based on the clips i've seen on The Soup).

I'm curious if Sue Galloway cracked as much as she did in the East Coast feed.  She completely lost it after the first Hamm appearance.  Granted, i did, too, but i wasn't being broadcast on live television at the time.

HORSE and Pot-Limit Omaha were gaining popularity in 2009-2011.  Same with other non-holdem games.

That was a good episode and you're correct that Ira Glass isn't a random person.

While you're correct that it makes more intuitive sense to not allow a U-Turned team U-Turn someone else, not allowing them to do so makes it too big of a disadvantage.  It also increases the risk of an unsuspenseful finish, though it was irrelevant in this case.

Right.

Podcasts are not utterly unmonetizable and many are part of the market economy.  That's what this article and comment thread have shown.

I believe your post comes across more cynical than you intended.

I agree that the bonus episodes that are done live aren't usually as good for the at-home listener as the normal episodes.  Even though a live DLM may not be worth $1.99, i tend to get them, anyway, as a way of supporting all the free ones.

Given that it's $100 for a personal ad or $200 for a business one, it's easy to tell how much cash.  It's a nice supplement.  Across all the podcasts i'd guess it's around $25K per year (at $500 per week), maybe a little more.  Some of those are month-long ads, like Make Pixel Art recently was.

Since it'd be tacky for Jesse to post this:

My favorite that can be purchased currently is the Republicans for Voldemort t-shirt from the excellent Goats: The Comic Strip (also available in bumper sticker form):
