He did. The set stopped for a little bit, the backstage legend has it that the promoter screamed at the band about breach of contract and threatened lawsuits galore, and Axl finally shrugged his way on stage and completed the set list - no encore.
A few nights later in Denver, he tried the same shit. Left the stage and was actually in his limo leaving the venue before the promoter turned his event staff (including me) into human parking lot blockades. Crazy, crazy shit.
Carbonell was good, but mostly I kept waiting for him to change into Batmanuel.
