Speaking of rain, has anyone noticed the incredible amount of sunny weather that Downton experiences?  I think last nite was the first time I ever saw it rain on the village!

To all those complaining about the Hobbit's first installment:

I remember, yarons ago, when AOL sponsored the movie "Backdraft" on NBC or somewhere, and at every freaking commercial interruption, when the AOL shill would come on, it was "Well, isn't THIS ex-CIT-ing!  Is Kurt Russel the firebomber?  Will his brother turn him in?"  It was the worst of PBS telethon breaks elevated

What about the ending to "Castaway".  Tom Hanks is presented with a crossroads, and one of them leads to the cute red headed woman with the butterfly decals.  I know the choice I would have made…

Have to agree on Dr. Clarkson…19th century medicine at its worst.  I surprised he doesn't regard germ theory as "one of those crazy French ideas".

The whole missing heir after a boat sinking instantly reminded me of the final chapters of Jeffrey Archer's latest potboiler "Only Time Will Tell".  Oh, sorry!  SPOILERS!
Maybe Archer can sue and get Julian Fellowes in prison.  Then we can see his take on incarceration, complete with interesting character studies and
