Thanks for posting these - the Leech household vetoed the Foys piece early on.* That's a fun act - I especially like the girl who told the Little Red Riding Hood story.

I'm fascinated by this series, Iggy. History is always written by the victors, depriving us of the reality of how progress really comes about. It's not all Edison's doing, you know.

They just ran a series of early Vitaphone shorts, presented by a scholar who brought along one of the old discs they used - fascinating.

Audiences for early films were watching filmed theatrical performances. The idea of film as a separate art film would take a few years.

What did I say yesterday? You're a good boy, right? You're enthusiastic about a great real-person story - that's good! If there's a way to spread a little joy at your job, do that, otherwise, take in the holiday-season miracle of Cindy. And give yourself a break! Happy holidays!

Erin is just my kind of girl. She's got that easy-going look - I was delighted to find out she likes drinking (Hobbies: Drinking). She's smart enough to go on Jeopardy!, and if I shoot my mouth off about what a turd Ayn Rand was, she won't disagree. If she likes the Beatles, Motown, Aretha, and Richard Thompson, I

That's the hard part of understanding someone we admire so much. He's a complete human being. For one thing, he's wicked smart, and has that razor-sharp wit. He also laughs at his own jokes, which works fine - it lets us relax.

Even the telephone scene, which I think of as very sexy, ends with him this close to slugging the girl.

He looks pretty healthy, though as dorky as ever. His assistant remains lovely after all these years.

The wet-dry vac joke is pretty good. But damn, the stuff he put on TV was pretty rank. Those Fernwood and talk show clips aren't ironically sexist, they're just sexist. I know don't speak ill…, if you can't say something nice…, yada yada, but your comment about Trump doesn't surprise me at all.

If Mr. Greene upvotes you, you must be OK. He upvotes me all the time, and I'm OK!

Teachers love good students. Who sing to them. Who have taken to many fast ones to the noggin.

Funny thing, Tom Petty knows he doesn't rank as high as Bruce Springsteen, and he just sounds cooler acknowledging it:

He started at the Top of the World, but now he's Free Fallin'.

And that boy grew up to be Donald Trump.

Opening presents before Christmas is definitely better than waiting. Takes the time pressure off the holiday, allows for more eating and watching of movies. And drinking while opening presents in the evening is a wonderful thing.
